Description
Eric Clapton will be releasing a large volume title after a long time. From the 1985 “Behind the Sun US Tour Second Leg”, the first performance was June 21st, Canada was the first complete stereo audience source of the Kingswood Music Theater performance in Toronto. In addition to the supplementary upgraded version of the original soundboard source that has already been released, this is a 5CD release that includes the stereo soundboard rehearsal source from the previous day, which will be released for the first time in Japan! Speaking of this day’s definitive version, “MERCY’S BIRTHDAY” was listed in “Eric Clapton – Live File 2″ which is being serialized in Beatleg magazine. It was extremely popular even though it was released as an upgraded version that was pulled directly from the master reel. However, because this master was a PA out source at the mixing table, the first half of Lay Down Sally and Forever Man, and the second half of Steppin’ Out and Further On Up The Road are missing. It contained flaws. Therefore, “MERCY’S BIRTHDAY” could not become a representative of the second leg of this tour, but with the release of this edition, there is no doubt that that evaluation will be overturned. This time, our store has exclusively obtained the master of this day, which was completely recorded with the finest stereo audience recording from the British heavyweight taper! There were some interruptions in the sound due to tape changes, but they were all located between songs, demonstrating the “professional workmanship”. Moreover, this sound quality was of the highest level, boasting a brilliant sound balance and clearness with a deep blue sound board and a clear musical tone. You can understand the high quality if you say that it is at a level that can be mistaken for a sound board without the cheers of the audience. With the excavation of this master, the whole story of this day has finally been revealed! The most valuable thing is that Clapton was showing off his best solo in the missing part of the SBD master of Forever Man and Further On Up The Road. He was playing so well. Fans should definitely listen to this part. The tape change part between songs is supplemented from the SBD master of “MERCY’S BIRTHDAY” to realistically reproduce the stage progress on that day. In addition, on Discs 3 & 4 that recorded the SBD master, all the missing parts of the previously released master were comfortably compensated for with the audience master excavated this time, and a complete recording was achieved on the SBD disc (However, Lay Down The beginning of Sally is slightly missing in both sound sources). This is a set that allows you to enjoy all of Clapton’s performance on this day to the fullest, regardless of whether you watch audience source Discs 1 & 2 or soundboard source Discs 3 & 4. Furthermore, the impact of this disc is not over yet. Surprisingly, the master sent by the British heavyweight taper includes a stereo sound board that records the rehearsal held at the same venue on June 20th, the day before the performance, which has never seen the light of day. The sound source was included! This is the first complete release of the sound source. The early rehearsal sound source of this year, held at Brixton Academy in England in March, is famous, but this rehearsal, which was held to start the second leg, is not even known to exist. did. Please check with your ears the rare rehearsal sound source of Clapton’s first public release in Japan. The drawbacks that are unique to rehearsals include skipping in the middle of I Shot The Sheriff and cutouts in Same Old Blues, but these are caused by the engineer stopping the tape at the mixing table, and are often found in leaked rehearsal tapes. It’s something you can see. What makes up for such shortcomings is that White Room, which was set in from the second leg, is played twice. Just before this, Clapton appeared on the American TV program “The David Letterman Show” at the request of Paul Schaffer, who was the musical director of the house band, and performed this song, reaffirming the real pleasure of this song. This is because Clapton suddenly decided to set it in on the second leg of his own tour. It must have been a nostalgic Cream era song that captured Clapton’s heart that much. Since the decision was made in such a hurry, it was probably necessary to rehearse thoroughly. Also on this tour, Marcy Levy’s Try A Little Tenderness, which was played only once at this Toronto performance, is being rehearsed. She probably suggested that she want to sing this number by Otis Redding, and Clapton agreed. There is no Clapton solo in this rehearsal, but the next day’s performance also features a wonderful Clapton solo. Throughout this rehearsal, Clapton is devoted to his vocals, but it is also typical of him that he does not cut corners in his guitar playing. On the other hand, it’s also heartwarming to see Marcy, Sean Murphy, and others singing with as much enthusiasm as they do in real life. Anyway, this rehearsal sound source is also a must-listen! The first day performance of the second leg of the 1985 tour has not received much attention due to its incomplete quality, but with the appearance of this album, it will suddenly become the leading title of the tour. It’s been a long time since Clapton’s unreleased sound source appeared.
