Description
From the 1981 “Another Ticket” Japan tour, two performances that have not been confirmed to exist until now, the Aichi Welfare Pension Hall performance on November 30th and the Osaka Festival Hall performance on December 1st, are now available as high-quality audience recordings for both performances. Both performances use high-quality master tapes by the same recorder directly, and contain very valuable takes that have not been released on CD or even circulated among traders. The 1981 tour, which was not well-received due to the lackluster stage at the second half of the Tokyo performance due to poor health during the tour, has been evaluated as being overturned from the existing image due to the overwhelming performance content of the first day performance recently discovered, but the Nagoya/Osaka performances on the second/third days of the tour, which are recorded in this title, have a performance comparable to the first day. First of all, the Nagoya performance on the second day of the tour, although there is a slightly unbelievable play in the second half of “Layla”, this day also features a high-quality performance that symbolizes the first half of the tour. The sound quality is quite good for a sound source from this tour with the vocals clearly audible, but due to damage to the master tape, it was recorded in mono, and after Cocaine in the latter half, there are parts where the high tones deteriorate depending on the direction of the microphone, and there is a missing part from 0:43 to 0:59 in Lay Down Sally, so the same part of the second verse was filled in, and there is a missing part of one bar at 1:17 in Setting Me Up, but the rest is recorded in full. In addition, as a bonus track, there is a different source sound source from the same day that recorded from Layla to the end of the stage. Next, the Osaka performance, the source that has been distributed until now is the Budokan performance on December 9th, and the full picture will be revealed for the first time with this title. First of all, Clapton’s play, the backing of Lay Down Sally is sharper than usual, giving a sense of the good condition of this day, and the play of After Midnight, which was played between Wonderful Tonight, is a spectacular play with both backing and solo. The ending in the second half, which makes full use of the wah, drags out the band’s intense groove while playing three consecutive songs, and the performance of hitting even more intense phrases is a masterpiece. And in the second half of Ramblin…, the obbligato phrases are faster than in other performances, and especially the play after the D key of Have You… can be heard as the best play of this tour. In any case, the best performance in terms of rhythm was unfolded on this day, and it can be said that this performance demonstrates how wonderful the stage of the first half of this tour was. The sound quality is high quality for a source of this period, and all stages are recorded without any omissions. A title that fans are looking forward to, which will fill the missing date of the 1981 Japan tour, has been decided to be released as a 4-disc set.
