Description
In 2024, Costello will be coming to Japan for the first time in eight years to tour Japan as a duo with Steve Nieve. The live performance at Sumida Triphony Hall on April 8, the first day in Tokyo, was recorded in full for 1 hour and 50 minutes with a high-quality audience shot released by the owner. This is an angle from the center of the front row of the arena, and the stable image is almost a fixed camera with almost no obstacles, and the accurate zoom reproduces the whole picture of the show. And while it seems like a simple live performance of the two of them, it suddenly starts with a surprising opening of “When I Was Cruel No. 2” with a drum machine in the background, but after that, the stage is mainly focused on simple singing and playing. The arrangements of each song, including “Accidents Will Happen,” are quite different, from those close to the original to “Beyond Belief” and the early classic “(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes,” which have fresh arrangements that are appealing, as well as “She,” which was not performed at all on the Australian tour leading the Imposters just before the Japan tour, and “Alison,” which closes the show on a gentle note. As a result, the set list for each day of this Japan tour is completely different, making this a must-see Japan tour for fans.
