Description
EL&P’s first visit to Japan, which can only be called “legendary” in every sense of the word. Of only two performances, the historical original master that completely recorded “Arashi no Korakuen” was discovered. EL&P in 1972 was truly a “phenomenon”. Not only was the rock version of classical masterpieces and groundbreaking guitar-less ensembles shocking, but the excitement that included idol-like popularity made it a symbol of Western music. In the era when LED ZEPPELIN and DEEP PURPLE were the Nippon Budokan and Osaka Festival Hall, they achieved an incredible feat of filling the Korakuen and Koshien stadiums twice. What’s more, a strange atmosphere appeared at the scene due to bad weather, and even a riot broke out at Koshien. Why is rock not just a genre of music? These two performances condensed that meaning. [Miraculous excavation of Omoto cassette of legendary recording] Included in this work is EL&P’s first live performance in Japan, “July 22, 1972: Korakuen Stadium” performance. This is an excellent audience recording of “those who are not rioters”. This show is also famous for being broadcast on TV, and its pro shots and soundboard have become a classic of all time. However, the TV pro shot is an excerpted version edited according to the broadcast schedule. On the other hand, this work is a full live album recorded at once on the spot. It is also one of the highest peaks in terms of both recording time and quality. Although this work is a recording that has been known for a long time, it is a master that no one has ever heard before. In the first place, Korakuen Audience is known for two shows, one was “COMPLETE PERFORMANCE IN THE STADIUM 1972” and the other was “ROCK EXPLOSION LIVE AT THE KORAKUEN”. Of these, the latter was known for its good sound, and this work was digitized directly from the original cassette of that disc. When you play it, it suddenly cuts in from the sound. It is clear that everything from Omoto Master is recorded from here. And, of course, the voice that could be heard from beyond the loud applause was that of Mr. Itoi○ro. It also includes the legendary MC who says, “Now it’s time to change clothes.” What’s more, it’s uncut. Cuts at the period-style tape change section were inevitable, and even the original master was missing 30 seconds of “The Great Gates Of Kiev” at the end of “Pictures at an Exhibition.” In this work, that part is supplemented with a TV broadcast sound board, allowing you to seamlessly experience the legendary scene. [Ultra natural sound that emits the legendary night as it is] This alone is overwhelming, but the sound is even more amazing. This was also the case with the QUEEN edition released at the same time, but the trends of 20 years ago influenced Moro, and it was distorted with unreasonable equalization and intense hiss reduction. On the other hand, this work is the truth of 1972 that was absorbed by the master tape. Only the pitch has been adjusted accurately, but because it is unprocessed, the fresh and natural sound is beautiful. What is surprising is the strength of the mind and the vividness of the outline. As history has it, stadium concerts were still rare at the time. There were no audience seats on the ground, so everyone watched from the stands. Of course, this work should have been recorded from the stand, but I don’t think so. Even though it is an open space with no echoes, it is so clear and clear that it is not enough to convince me. If the recording was so beautiful and vivid, I don’t think there was any need to process it… In any case, we were able to permanently preserve the natural, beautiful sound that only Omoto cassettes recorded. This is truly a feat. Since the show is so legendary, there is no need to talk about its contents. Due to the bad weather, the tuning of the Moog and bass went out of whack, but despite this, they continued to perform passionately. The audience witnessing the wild live performance felt strangely excited, even though it was raining lightly. There are many great bands in the history of rock, but none have achieved fame with explosive performances like EL&P, and their fierce ensemble enters a different dimension with the strange mood of their first Asian performance and bad weather. What is engraved in this work is far from a “well-equipped masterpiece”, but that is why it is “amazing”. Yes, in an era when there was no segmentation or analysis and it was just “Rock is Rock,” there was an energy that transcended description and could only be expressed with two words: “Amazing.” This work is a two-disc set filled with things that could only be produced by EL&P because it was the summer of 1972.
