Description

A superb audience recording of the Tulsa, Oklahoma performance on March 7th from the US tour accompanying the 1974 “Terrifying Brain Reform”. It is recorded with an extremely fresh and powerful sound, and is an excellent take that is a must-listen for fans. There are some shortcomings, such as the missing Hoedown intro, the missing Take A Pebble reprise part, and the missing heads of Karn Evil’s 1st Impression and 2nd Impression, but the entire main set, excluding the approximately 2-hour encore, is a punchy song. You can enjoy the stable and vivid sound. Hoedown and Tarkus can be heard with their speedy performances, which are familiar from their official live shows that overwhelm the listeners, but new songs such as Jerusalem have a wonderful calm and dignified tempo, allowing you to listen to highly accomplished masterpieces. Masu. On the other hand, Toccata has a roughness that is just one step away from completion, typical of this period, and can be heard in a fresh way. Everything about Emerson’s use of synths and the selection of organ tones during this period is surprisingly effective, and you can hear him perform at the peak of his career. The thrilling sound and crazy performance of the 10-minute ribbon controller in Tarkus, which can be said to be the biggest listening point, is truly amazing. Benny The Bouncer, which has not yet been released as an official live album, is also worth listening to. Karn Evil on Disc 2 also has a powerful overall sound and performance. “Third Impression” is especially wonderful, and although Keith unusually misspells the synth melody in the intro and there aren’t enough effects applied to Emerson’s mechanical voice, the performance itself is splendid, and serves as the finale of the main set. (Although I do end up playing Poka in the final repeating synth), you can experience the climax at its best. Live at Civic Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA 7th March 1974 TRULY AMAZING SOUND Disc 1 1.
