Description

The 2CD “DETROIT 1977″ lets you fully enjoy the performance of a mature trio. However, this was not the only announcement made by JEMS. “May 31st” and “June 1st” performed with the orchestra at the same Cobo Arena in 1977 were also discovered at the same time. “DETROIT WORKS” was a work that combined 3 concerts (2 orchestra performances + 1 trio) into 6 CDs. This time, the best of them, “Trio x 1″, has been made into a CD, but it is human nature that even those who do not have the previous release will want to listen to the remaining two performances. In order to respond to that feeling, we have decided to include a bonus of “co-starring twice.” Discs 1 and 2 are “May 31st”. You may be thinking, “Isn’t it a blast?”, but it’s actually a JEMS sound source. It would be a problem if people were to imagine a typical audience recording. As expected, there is a distance compared to the iron-clad sound of “Trio’s July 22nd”, and it feels like it is “a little off,” but it is not at all difficult to listen to. There is no sound cracking or noise, and from the opening “Abaddon’s Bolero” you can realistically feel the orchestral sound filling the venue with a full sense of scale. There is no definitive sound source for the orchestra co-starring live, and the official “WORKS LIVE” and “WORKS ORCHESTRAL TOUR 77” do not provide a full view of the show. Under such circumstances, these discs 1 and 2 are great sound sources that allow you to fully enjoy the show with JEMS sound. The replacement discs 3 and 4 are “June 1st”. The sound today was amazing! There are some parts where you can hear some microphone noise in “Lucky Man” and “Tank,” but the basic recording is a clear sound that comes close to the 2CD “DETROIT 1977.” With that quality, you can enjoy plenty of orchestral co-starring. “From The Beginning” is especially delicious. The orchestral performance of this song is a rare version that has not even been officially released. You can listen to it with press-grade high quality sound! Even more amazing is “Pirates”. The orchestrated version of this song is also an official video, and while it is as clear as that, it also has a sense of scale unique to audience recording. As expected of a JEMS master, you can listen to such a moving version! Unfortunately, discs 3 and 4 are not complete recordings, the opening “Abaddon’s Bolero” is a cut-in, and the last “Rondo” also fades out. Furthermore, “Pictures At An Exhibition” and “C’est la Vie” in the middle are also missing. What a shame! …That’s why it’s a masterpiece that rivals the 2CD “DETROIT 1977” in terms of listenability. This is a 4-disc set that I would like to place next to “DETROIT 1977” as part of the “JEMS collection from the same year and venue.” Please enjoy it together! Cobo Arena, Detroit, MI.
