Description
In 1974, from the US tour accompanying the album “Brain Reform of Fear”, on July 26th, New York recorded the performance at Rich Stadium in Buffalo with the best audience recording. This performance is a familiar recording for fans as it was also included in the Official Live Bootleg Series, but the take on this edition is clearly from a younger generation than the previous releases, and the hiss is less (no noise reduction was used). You can enjoy the wonderful show of this period with the best sound. It’s a shame that the first half of Karn Evil 2nd Impression is still missing (probably missing from the master), but since that part has not been faded, you can listen to it for about 2 seconds longer than the previous release, which is a small but nice advantage. . (You can hear the key check sound after Take A Pebble (Replise), which was recorded across the disc in the previous release.) The sound is the best audience recording in 1974, and the official live “Ladies & Gentlemen”, you can enjoy large-scale performances with the highest sound quality. In Toccata, the guitar play in the 4th minute doesn’t match the rhythm and becomes strange, but the performance is truly powerful, with the spontaneous interaction between Karl and Emerson in the 5th minute, and the ear-piercing keyboard play in the second half. You can listen to the sound. Tarkus from this period, which I thought was “overdone”, was the best, and although the ending was unfortunately cut, you can fully enjoy the one and only invincible performance that lives up to the name of the strongest trio band in history. In Epitaph, which is heard in the middle of Tarkus, Greg plays a strange electric guitar performance that I have never heard before. The lively piano improvisation with the familiar Maple Leaf Rag inserted from the 1977 tour is the best place to listen. (Tiger In A Spotlight’s solo also pops out.) Karn Evil 1st Impression’s guitar improvisation part from the late 6th minute is so melodious and startling that I’ve never heard it, but surprisingly, from 7 minutes 13 seconds. The texture is perfect and you will be surprised by the contrasting performance. You can listen to the powerful play of this day’s drum solo with outstanding sharpness. In the 2nd Impression, where the first half was unfortunately cut, the disorder of the ensemble is noticeable. 3rd Impression allows you to listen to a cohesive and powerful performance. There is an explosion sound at the end of the last sequencer. The frenzied “Baba Yaga’s Hut” that can be heard in the 25-minute “Pictures at an Exhibition” is a must-hear for all fans. The performance of “Kiev Daimon”, which was incorporated as a section in place of Rondo, is also original and excellent. Also includes the ending theme. This is a highly recommended piece.
