Description
In the spring of 2017, Eddie Jobson announced that he would be performing a tribute live show to Keith Emerson and John Wetton, “Fallin’ Angels Tour,” with guitarist Mark Bonilla, who was Keith’s ally. The tour began on April 22nd and saw a total of five shows in Europe and the US. The live show in Zoetermeer, Holland on April 26th was recorded in full using a soundboard-level digital audience recording. Jobson, whose last performance with Wetton was in the UK in 2015, and Mark Bonilla had been members of the Keith Emerson Band for many years, and were scheduled to perform in Japan together in April 2016, but Keith passed away. Although Jobson’s singing ability is somewhat inferior, his vocal quality is relatively similar to Wetton’s and Greg Lake’s, so he seems the perfect choice for this performance, and the live show itself will be a simple semi-acoustic performance by the two of them. The set, which was the focus of attention, began with Jobson’s memorial speech, followed by “Trilogy”, “Starless” and “Rendezvous 6:02”, which were EL&P, Crimson and UK numbers. After that, Eddie played one keyboard and some violin, and Bonilla played acoustic guitar and sang, and the show proceeded simply in a semi-acoustic style. Of course, Jobson played Crimson and UK numbers, but it’s also worth checking out the EL&P classics such as “The Barbarian / Take A Pebble”, “Bitches Crystal” and the last song “Lucky Man”, which you can hear for the first time. It’s also interesting that he doesn’t like pop songs very much, so he doesn’t play ASIA songs. We’re looking forward to his future activities and sets, and this is a must-listen item for all prog fans. DISC 1 : 1. Edit Jobson talks/2. Trilogy/3. Starless/4. Rendezvous 6:02/5.
