Description

Eastern Rebellion, featuring Bob Berg on tenor, performed at a jazz club in Milan, and the rare stage performance was recorded in the front row. This is the first time that the master recordings have been released on disc! The new Eastern Rebellion, which has become more aggressive after replacing the fresh Bob Berg who had just graduated from the Horace Silver Group, has released one live recording from the official site, but this title is a historical excavation recording with a different set list, different members, and even different guest players. Eastern Rebellion, which was formed with Cedar Walton as the core, initially recorded an album in 1975 with George Coleman as tenor. The Milan performance unearthed this time requires Bob Berg on tenor, and Tony Doumas, who has also participated in Art Pepper and Freddie Hubbard’s albums, is on bass. The members are Billy Higgins on drums. The last two songs also feature a rare recording of tenor Larry Nocera, who is known (not sure) for playing the saxophone solo in the interlude of Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On,” performing with Bob Berg. The opening track is Ugetsu (Fantasy in D), a masterpiece written by Cedar Walton and included in the album “At Birdland” released in 1963 when he was a member of the Jazz Messengers. Now, as for the sound quality, which is the key point, the sound quality of the recording, which was successfully recorded by a fan sitting in the front row of a jazz club, has hardly deteriorated over the years, and the quality of the disc is so high that it is hard to believe that it was recorded more than 40 years ago. Moreover, the performance recorded is unprecedented, and will make any jazz fan shiver. Live at Milan, Italy 01/21/1979 Disc 1 1.Ugetsu(Fantasy In D) 2.For All We Know 3.Ojos De Rojos 4.Holy Land 5.Blue Monk / Rhythm-A-Ning Disc 2 1.I Can’t Get Started / The Theme 2.Over The Rainbow / Off Minor Cedar Walton(p) Bob Berg(ts) Tony Dumas(b) Billy Higgins(dr) Larry Nocera(ts, 5-6)
