Description

The Eagles are moving forward with their latest tour “HOTEL CALIFORNIA 2022” and the news of Deacon Fry’s departure is spreading ripples in 2022. Their latest live album has arrived. This work is recorded from the “April 19, 2022 Columbus performance”. It is a superb audience recording. The Hotel California reenactment tour began in 2019 and is still ongoing despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of you may remember their masterpiece “MADISON SQUARE GARDEN 2021”. First of all, let’s review their recent situation. 2019 February 26th – March 14th: Oceania (9 performances) May 26th – July 8th: Europe (16 performances) ← * AMSTERDAM 2019 “HOTEL CALIFORNIA Tour” September 27th – October 5th: North America #1 (3 performances) 2020 February 7th – March 7th: North America #2 (10 performances) 2021 August 24th – November 6th: North America #3 (23 performances) ← * MADISON SQUARE GARDEN 2021 2022 Deacon Frye will not be joining the tour February 19-March 30: North America #4a (14 shows) April 6: Deacon’s departure announced April 19-May 28: North America #4b (13 shows) ←★here★ June 17-26: Europe (5 shows) This is the progress of the “HOTEL CALIFORNIA Tour” that has been announced so far. The tour resumed after a year and a half last year, and the new year of 2022 started in February. It seemed to be going smoothly, but Deacon was not on stage. It was initially announced that he was taking medical treatment, but just the other day, his departure was announced with the comment “It’s time to carve out my own path.” Although the reason has changed, it is understandable that 24-year-old Deacon is pursuing his own career, and the band also announced that “he can always participate in future concerts if he wants.” It seems to have been an amicable separation. Anyway, this performance in Columbus was the first stage after the announcement of his departure. It was the first day of “North America #4b”. This work, recorded at such a site, is an audience recording that depicts the “best”. The sound of the vocals is relaxed and gives a sense of space, but that’s about it. The core is strong and straight to the ears, and the details are clear. Despite the large group of eight people, including support, each sound is clear and clear. The sense of separation that does not mix even when the melodies overlap is also wonderful. Unfortunately, it is not perfect because there is a rustling microphone contact sound in “New Kid in Town”, but the basic quality is a great recording. In addition, the loud cheers that overlap there are also nice. The full performance of the great masterpiece and the intro of the famous songs are accompanied by a grand cheer and a roar, but it is strangely far away. Although the performance sound is very close, you can enjoy the show in a somewhat bird’s-eye mood. (This is just a guess) This is probably due to the recording position. This work was recorded in the “5th row of Section 101”, which is an arena, but right next to the stage. Since it is near the front (5th row), it has a three-dimensional feel that makes you feel like you are watching the whole venue with a sense that is very similar to the stage. The side of the stage was hard to see at the scene, so it was a “bad seat”, but the recording was so well balanced. It is an unexpected blind spot, and it is also a recording that teaches us the depth of audience culture once again. Such a unique sound depicts a full show centered on the complete performance of the great album “Hotel California”. It is subtly different from the first report “MADISON SQUARE GARDEN 2021”, so let’s organize it once again here. Part 1 (DISC 1) Hotel California (all songs): Hotel California/New Kid in Town/Life in the Fast Lane/Wasted Time (★)/Wasted Time (Reprise) (★)/Victim of Love (★)/Pretty Maids All in a Row (★)/Try and Love Again (★)/The Last Resort (★) Part 2 (DISC 2-3) First: Take It Easy/Witchy Woman (★)/Peaceful Easy Feeling Outlaw: Tequila Sunrise/Desperado On the Border: Already Gone/Best Of My Love (★) Cursed Night: One Of These Nights/Take It To The Limit/Lyin’ Eyes Long Run: In The City/I Can’t Tell You Why/Those Shoes/Heartache Tonight Others (Joe Walsh): Funk #49/Rocky Mountain Way/Life’s Been Good Others; Seven Bridges Road/The Boys of Summer *Note: The “★” mark indicates a song that cannot be heard on the official album “LIVE FROM THE FORUM MMXVIII”. …And so on. The show is in two parts, “Part 1 = All songs from Hotel California” + “Part 2 = Greatest Hits”. In this work, the significance of the show is also emphasized, and it is a three-disc set with a live version of Hotel California on DISC 1 and the rest on DISC 2-3. The concept is the same as “MADISON SQUARE GARDEN 2021”, but in 2022 there was a minor change as a result of trial and error. “Love Will Keep Us Alive”, “Walk Away”, and “The Long Run” have been removed from the second part, making for a tighter and more intense show. If you think about it, it’s cruel to expect a 24-year-old young man to have a “career that just copies his father”. Deacon’s departure may have been inevitable. In any case, the Eagles have entered a new chapter again. This work is a three-disc set that allows you to fully experience such a cutting-edge show.
