Description

The sound quality is so clear that it’s amazing. I was enchanted by the crystal clear sound quality. That was the Eagles in Boston on May 14, 1975. Not to be outdone by Mike Millard on the West Coast, in Boston in the mid-1970s, there were audience recordings of amazing quality that even today’s ears would be surprised by, but this day was also a perfect example of the shocking sound quality. The freshness is also outstanding, is this really an audience recording from the 1970s? There is no way that such a good sound quality source could be left alone, and it has a track record of releasing “BOSTON MUSIC HALL 1975” from the nostalgic Screamer more than 10 years ago. However, this time the sound quality has been improved by direct transfer from the master reel. The sound quality was already quite high even at the time of the Screamer version, but this time it is even more superbly clear. In addition, the sound source has a chronic condition of low pitch, which was left unattended on the Screamer version, but it has been adjusted properly for this release. It was already an exceptionally easy-to-listen-to audience recording, but now it’s in perfect condition. It’s hard to believe that such a superb audience was left alone after the Screamer release. Not only is the sound quality clear, but the recording quality is also amazing, with Bernie Leadon and Don Felder’s guitars being completely audible. After Leadon left and Joe Walsh replaced him, the Eagles’ sound became more rock-oriented at once, but at this point you can clearly hear the two of them playing country-like with a Telecaster and modern rock with a Les Paul, so the recording quality is even more surprising. At this live performance, the album “Cursed Night” was about to be released, so the new songs from the album were only the title song and “Too Many Hands”, and the classics “Lyin’ Eyes” and “Take It to the Limit” were not played. Rather, it is valuable to hear the instrumental “Journey of the Sorcerer” by Leadon, which stood out on the album. In addition, the audience was superb, with the details of each instrument firmly captured, so the instrumental scenes, which would have naturally fallen off the setlist if Leadon had left, can be enjoyed with the best sound quality. Six months later, Leadon left the band and Walsh joined, but at this point his presence was still overwhelmingly strong, and from “Train Leaves Here This Mornin'” onwards, the Eagles’ style was truly in full swing, as they were in the Leadon era. The great appeal is that you can enjoy a stage full of their original style with the best clarity, before they became a supergroup with “HOTEL CALIFORNIA” the following year. And while the Eagles had the best audience suitable for limited press CD releases such as “SANTA MONICA 1980 1ST NIGHT: MIKE MILLARD MASTER TAPES” towards the end of their career, for some reason they were not blessed with a clear and crisp audience recording in the 1970s. In that respect, the value of this 1975 Boston recording is immeasurable, as it literally captures the Eagles’ original live sound with a refreshing and clear sound quality. For the closing song, “Best Of Your Love,” Dan Fogelberg, who was the opening act, guest-joins the band on piano. The sound quality is so pleasant to listen to and so clear that it is sure to be enjoyed not only by enthusiasts but also by beginners. If you want to know the full picture of the Eagles’ live performance before “HOTEL CALIFORNIA” and during the “Ledon era,” the best audience recording that can be said to be “this first” has finally been renewed!
