Description

11 songs from the performance at the Rainbow Theatre in London on August 31, 1977, and 5 songs from the performance at Jacksonville, Florida on December 10, 1978, are recorded in perfect stereo soundboard recording at the official level. The 1977 recordings are from the ambitious work “LIVIN’ ON THE FAULT LINE” which strongly emphasized the AOR color, and the 1978 recordings are from the tour of “MINUTE BY MINUTE”, which was a huge success that returned to pop doobie and won four Grammy Awards. The 1977 London performance take was recorded after Tom Johnston, who was the face of the early doobie, retired from the tour, and Michael McDonald was featured more, and the stage set makes the difference in style between the early masterpieces and the new songs with a strong AOR color more obvious. It was a time when the band’s direction became more AOR, but the high-quality ensemble of the members with outstanding skills was truly wonderful, and you can enjoy Jeff Baxter’s powerful guitar solos on some songs. In the middle of the album, you can hear For Someone Special sung by Tyran Porter, which was included in “Takin’ It to the Streets”, which is a classic of this time of year and will be a treat for fans. The live take of the title track of the 1977 album Livin’ On the Fault Line is a great song for enthusiasts. In the 1978 live performance, you can hear the popular instrumental number Steamer Lane Breakdown from the smash hit album “Minute by Minute”. This is a highly satisfying item that condenses the greatness and charm of the Doobie’s live shows in the late 1970s into one album. Live at Rainbow Theatre, London, UK 31st August 1977 STEREO SBD 1.
