The 1977 recordings are from the ambitious work “LIVIN’ ON THE FAULT LINE” which strongly emphasized the AOR color, and the 1978 recordings are from the tour of “MINUTE BY MINUTE”, which was a huge success that returned to pop doobie and won four Grammy Awards. The 1977 London performance take was recorded after Tom Johnston, who was the face of the early doobie, retired from the tour, and Michael McDonald was featured more, and the stage set makes the difference in style between the early masterpieces and the new songs with a strong AOR color more obvious.
