Description
The New York Rock & Soul Revue, a special project that covered rock, soul and jazz classics, was led by Steely Dan’s Donald Fagen and also featured Dr. John and Phoebe Snow. They performed regularly from 1989 to 1992. This DVD contains a complete recording of their performance at the Evian Music Festival held at Southampton High School in New York on August 24, 1990, using stereo soundboard recordings made using broadcast recordings. This is a rare live recording of this unit, with very few live recordings available other than the official release of their 1991 show. As the band’s name suggests, they cover many classic songs, but in between, they also perform Steely Dan’s “Black Friday,” “Home at Last,” and “Pretzel Logic.” Later, Michael McDonald, Boz Scaggs and others joined the project, developing it into the Dukes of September, which also toured Japan, and this is a rare live recording of the precursor to that, in official quality.
