Description

Don Henley reached the peak of his solo career with the masterpiece “THE END OF THE INNOCENCE”. Following that huge hit, he went on a world tour that lasted for three years, but a live album was never released from such a long tour. In 1989, a radio broadcast in Houston was realized immediately after the release of the album as a promotion, but the middle part of the concert was cut out in order to fit it on one broadcast disc. At the end of the tour in 1991, a PA out soundboard in Cincinnati was leaked, but it had the problem of a lack of realism. In 1990, instead of the usual live stage, he appeared on MTV Unplugged, but the broadcast time was short, and above all, it is hard to say that it is a live video that represents the tour. After all, at the beginning of this year, the title song of the previous album won a Grammy Award and attracted a lot of attention, and just before that, he even came to Japan for a performance. It is regrettable that a full live broadcast or release was not realized in this situation. However, because of his popularity, it was surprising to find that even Mike Millard had come to record his solo stage! Of course, he recorded at his home, the LA Forum. This means that the quality is guaranteed, but the quality is so good that you can’t help but get goosebumps when you listen to it. The sound image is still as on-the-ball as ever, and the sound is also very fresh. Millard’s record of the Eagles’ final period, “SANTA MONICA 1980: MIKE MILLARD 1ST GENERATION CASSETTE,” was also recorded by a superb audience, and this time, the quality of Millard’s music is also spectacular. Although he was at the height of his popularity at the time, Henry’s solo performance has now become part of the “nostalgic” late 1980s rock genre, but the quality is absolutely top-notch. Since this was a stage in 1990, when he was at the height of his popularity, the set list, which featured a lineup of his solo numbers up to that point, is overwhelming. The now classic “The End Of The Innocence” was a new song at the time, so it was shown early in the live performance. After that, there were a number of nostalgic solo numbers such as “New York Minute” and “The Boys Of Summer”. Even the Eagles numbers seem unnecessary in front of this rich selection of songs, but Henry was at the height of his popularity at this time, so he focused on singing. As for the drums, he left it to former King Crimson member Ian Wallace, and as a result, Wallace played Eagles’ famous songs such as “Hotel California”, which is a rare live performance for enthusiasts. And it’s fun to hear Henry’s unique calm but fast-talking manner everywhere, and after the introduction of the members, he explains the organization Walden Woods, which he founded that year to oppose deforestation, and it’s interesting to see Henry’s style explode, and even if you don’t understand English, you can enjoy just listening to his unique speaking voice. Such is the performance and set list unique to his solo period. Furthermore, his stage, which is full of the charm unique to 1990, such as a more talkative staging than the Eagles, is a new mirrored master recorded by an astonished audience!
