Description
In 1980, DIRE STRAITS was formed as a five-person band with Hal Lindes and Alan Clark. Their iconic pro shot has been upgraded. This is the genuine official quality version. The iconic footage was taken at the “December 19, 1980 Dortmund performance”. It is a multi-camera pro shot from their appearance at the West German festival “RockPop In Concert”. They appeared at “RockPop” three times (1979 / 1980 / 1991), and this work is from the middle “MAKING MOVIES” era. Roy Bittan substituted for David Knopfler on the album, but was later replaced by Lindes & Clark. In order to organize the situation around that, let’s first take a bird’s-eye view of the activities at that time and check the position of the show. 1980: October “MAKING MOVIES” released / Lindes & Clark join October 16th – November 23rd: North America (28 performances) November 26th – December 31st: Europe #1a (26 performances) ←★Here★ 1981: January 1st – January 14th: Europe #1b (7 performances) March 22nd – April 15th: Oceania (19 performances) May 5th – July 6th: Europe #2 (45 performances) This is the whole picture of “On Location Tour 1980-1981”. “Europe #1a” was almost exclusively in the UK, but in between, West Germany performances were inserted only twice (21st performance / 22nd performance) for the “RockPop” appearance. As it is a famous festival, the broadcast pro shots are a classic among the classics that have been known for a long time, but this work is not a copy or remaster reissue of the already issued group. This is the highest peak updated version made into DVD from the latest master released at the end of last year. After all, it was discovered and announced by the official channel of DIRE STRAITS. It is a genuine official master. In fact, the beauty of the image can only be described as “completely official class”. It has been called “official class” for some time, but the master quality, which has no traces of dubbing or even radio waves, transcends time. The color development is beautiful to the naked eye, and the edges of the displayed subtitles are sharp and completely free of blurring/cloudiness. What is depicted with such complete official quality is a stage with a delicious repertoire that was only possible at the time. Let’s organize the contents here. Making Movies Tunnel Of Love/Solid Rock Other Sad Sultans: Down To The Waterline (★)/Lions (★)/Sultans Of Swing Communique: Once Upon A Time In The West/News (★) *Note: The “★” mark indicates songs that have not been played since this tour. …And so it is. From the just-released “MAKING MOVIES”, only the standard songs are available, and the classics are more valuable. The three songs “Down To The Waterline”, “Lions” and “News” are songs that will be sealed after the “On Location Tour”. Of course, they have been played before, but the five-person version is this tour. In addition, “News” also includes “Private Investigations”, which will be included in the next work “LOVE OVER GOLD”. This is the highest peak updated version of the famous video that has long been considered “the official substitute of the MAKING MOVIES era”. Moreover, it is a genuine official version with the approval of the official channel. This is a piece that we would like you to put on the shelf next to “MAKING MOVIES”. A multi-camera pro shot of the “December 19, 1980 Dortmund performance”. It is a classic among the classics that has been known for a long time, but this work is the latest highest peak updated version released on the official channel.
