Description
Ronnie James Dio in his later years visited Japan repeatedly in the 2000s. A new masterpiece is now available in the original recording collection. This work includes “May 28, 2005: ZEPP OSAKA performance”. This is a masterpiece audience recording that vacuum-packs the whole story. In the 1990s, Ronnie’s visits to Japan decreased dramatically, but in the late 2000s he visited Japan frequently. Especially for the three years from 2005 to 2007, they performed in Japan every year as if they were regretting parting ways with Japan. Archive his later years with original recordings. First of all, let’s organize the position of this work from the three years of Japanese performances, along with organizing the collection. 2005 (DIO), May 27th: ZEPP NAGOYA @ May 28th: ZEPP OSAKA ←★This work★, May 29th “GATES OF BABYLON: ZEPP TOKYO” 2006 (DIO), October 15th “ LOUD PARK 2006 (Makuhari Messe)” @ October 16th “LOUD PARK 06: ZEPP OSAKA” 2007 (HEAVEN & HELL) ・October 20th “LOUD PARK 07 SAITAMA SUPER ARENA” ・October 22nd “TOKYO 2007 ( Tokyo International Forum)” @October 23rd “LOUD PARK 07 OSAKA (Osaka Castle Hall)” @October 25th “NAGOYA 2007 (Nagoya City Public Hall)” *Note “@” indicates the collection by “Western Japan’s Strongest Taper” . This is the Japan performance from 2005 to 2007. A total of nine shows were held, of which eight have been archived. In particular, there are many masterpieces by the “strongest taper in Western Japan”, and half of the works, four of them, are in the collection of “the strongest”. This work is also the latest version. This work is truly a masterpiece by a master craftsman. In fact, at that time it was the beginning of the “Strongest” collection, and at that time he was still recording only for himself. Therefore, I’m not the type of person who would be surprised like “Isn’t this a sound board!?” like in modern times, but that doesn’t mean it’s far away. Even when listening with headphones, the only thing that feels like an audience is the snare tone (of course, the enthusiasm is real), and the core that penetrates the center of the clear space is really powerful, and the details are clear down to the smallest detail. The bass, which is often spoiled, is buzzing and pleasant, showing the beginnings of the ability that would later become known as a master craftsman. What is depicted with such a sound is a full show that summarizes Ronnie’s career. When you think of late DIO, you may have the impression that the sets are similar, but they are actually quite different. Here, let’s compare it with “LOUD PARK 06: ZEPP OSAKA”, which was also performed at the same venue and is also the “strongest” work. RAINBOW/BLACK SABBATH (5 songs)・Man on the Silver Mountain・Conqueror of Rainbows: Stargazer (★)・Gates of Babylon: Long Live Rock ‘n’ Roll/Gates of Babylon (★)・Heaven・And Hell: Heaven and Hell 80’s DIO (9 songs) ・Flame of Passion: Stand Up and Shout / Holy Diver / Straight Through the Heart (★) / Don’t Talk to Strangers (★) / Rainbow in the Dark・Last in Line: Egypt (The Chains Are On) (★) / The Last in Line (★) / We Rock (★) ・Dream Evil: Sunset Superman (★) Rearranged DIO (2 songs) ・Killing The Dragon: Killing the Dragon (★) Master of the Moon: Shivers (★) *Note: Songs marked with a “★” cannot be heard on “LOUD PARK 06: ZEPP OSAKA” from the same venue/same recording artist. . …and it looks like this. As the title suggests, “LOUD PARK 06: ZEPP OSAKA” was a short set that participated in a festival and was a single piece, but this work is a full show as the main act. Therefore, there are plenty of famous songs from each era, from RAINBOW to DIO’s final work “MASTER OF THE MOON”. Its wide range is what makes it so appealing, but what I would like to pay attention to now is “Sunset Superman”. Speaking of late DIO, there are also official works such as “EVIL OR DIVINE” and “HOLY DIVER LIVE”, but the guitar player on those is Doug Aldrich. This work is for Craig Goldie, the original guitarist, so the masterpiece of “DREAM EVIL” is also performed. Also, “Egypt (The Chains Are On)” and “Stargazer” are surprisingly delicious. The former was also played on “EVIL OR DIVINE,” but the arrangement transitioned to “Children of the Sea” in the middle. In this work, it is played properly until the end, and then “Stargazer” is played. You can enjoy RAINBOW’s famous songs that cannot be heard in the two official works mentioned above. Also interesting is Simon Wright’s drum solo. In the latter half of DIO, he entertained us by playing various classical songs like the late Cozy Powell, but in this work from 2005, he used “William Tell Overture”. While delighting old fans, the original and dramatic solo explodes. Ronnie James Dio came to Japan for the third consecutive year as a run-up for HEAVEN & HELL in 2007, his last visit to Japan. This is a live album where you can experience the “2005 Osaka” edition at its finest. There is no doubt that this work itself is a masterpiece, but it is also fun to follow the miraculous three years together with “LOUD PARK 06: ZEPP OSAKA” and “LOUD PARK 07 OSAKA” from the same “strongest” collection. A masterpiece that allows you to enjoy the luxury that only underground recording can provide. Live at Zepp Osaka, Osaka, Japan 28th May 2005 PERFECT SOUND(from Original Masters) Disc:1 (51:26) 1.
