Diana Ross, who had a string of hits as a solo artist and was also successful as an actress after leaving the Supremes. Despite having 18 number one songs including her time with the Supremes and being at an all-time high, she was releasing albums and trying to make further progress in the 1990s. This recording shows her live performance at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas on May 3, 1992, leaked from a soundboard by a person involved. This is the last show of the six shows. In 1991, she released The Force Behind The Power, which included the song If We Hold On Together, which was a huge hit in Japan. Since it’s 1992, you might expect her to sing that song, but unfortunately it wasn’t played. It’s probably just a hit in Japan. However, Stevie Wonder’s cover of Blame It On The Sun is included on that album, and she sings it as the first song, nailing the audience. The guitar cutting is funkier than Nile Rodgers, and the arrangement of Upside Down is so good. Diana Ross starred in the Billie Holiday movie, and her singing of Good Morning Heartache and I Cried For You (Now It’s Your Turn To Cry For Me) is superb. Diana doesn’t rely on hits, playing covers of famous teenage songs and the danceable Mirror Mirror from her first album after leaving Motown in 1981. She especially shows off the Diana Ross songs she wants to express at the time, such as the 1992 single Waiting In The Wings and the 1993 single The Best Years Of My Life, which are still in her prime. She plays Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, which she covered twice by the Supremes and solo, because she loves Diana, and although Lionel Richie isn’t featured in the big hit Endless Love, she sings it because she wants to sing it. One Shining Moment is incomplete, but includes a bonus performance from a different show.
