Description
Dexter Gordon, also known as Dale Turner, is the name of Dexter who starred in the movie “Round Midnight.” From his last performance in Japan in 1988, he performed at the Postal Savings Hall in Tokyo on September 13th. Complete recording of the live performance with official quality, stereo soundboard sound source from the radio on-air master. This was a performance live for the release of the movie, and many musicians also participated, so while he performed only three songs, “Round Midnight,” “Blues Walk,” and “Society Red,” he gave a realistic performance for his first starring role. Bobby Hutcherson, who appeared with him in the 1986 movie “Round Midnight” and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor, also participated, and gave a powerful performance that belied his later years. You can also enjoy a wonderful performance by the Round Midnight Band, which included the Cedar Walton Trio as the rhythm section, and here is a masterpiece that will be missed two years later. 1.
