Description

About two months after the release of the rare masterpiece “Go!”, released just before the band made a comeback on the Blue Note label in 1960 and moved their base to Europe, a new recording was released that shocked fans, recorded as a miraculously excavated recording of a live performance in Oslo, Norway. What is surprising about this Oslo performance is that Einar Iversen is a member of the quartet. As Norway’s best pianist, he is known among jazz fans as a “know-it-all”, and his solo album “Me and My Piano”, introduced in the “Jazz Import Guide” released in 1998, was traded at a high price due to its good content. It is truly a miracle that Dexter Gordon was performing live in Oslo. Of course, Dexter Gordon’s tenor from this era has a more than dignified and dignified tenor that has wiped away his temporary slump. Dex’s live performance at the age of 39 at the time is a great excavation recording that is worth listening to. The bonus track is his signature song “Round Midnight,” also from a newly discovered live recording from 1965. It’s also worth noting that Georges Grunz participated in this one. 1. Second Balcony Jump 2. Emie’s Tune 3. Stanley The Streamer 4. Round Midnight(*) Live at Oslo, Norway 11/24/1962 Dexter Gordon (ts) Einar Iversen (p) Erik Amundsen (b) John Christensen (dr) track 4 Live at Stuttgart, Germany 11/03/1965 Dexter Gordon (ts) Georges Grunz (p) Jimmy Wood (b) Stu Martin (dr)
