Description
A live album vacuum-packed from the heyday of two bands is here. It is a superb audience package by the master “Crazy S.” The heyday is “August 31, 1987 Sheffield performance”. It is a part of DEF LEPPARD’s glorious “HYSTERIA TOUR 1987-1988”. First of all, let’s imagine the position of the show from the whole world tour picture. [1987] June 24-28: Europe #1 (3 shows) August 3rd “HYSTERIA” released August 27th-September 17th: UK (17 shows) ←★here★ October 1st-December 31st: North America #1 (61 shows) [1988] January 16th-February 19th: North America #2 (25 shows) March 4th-April 22nd: Europe #2 (37 shows) May 17th-24th: Japan (5 shows) May 27th-October 27th: North America #3 (88 shows) A total of 236 shows. The tour started with a warm-up performance in the Netherlands in June, but the full-scale tour started in the UK after the release of “HYSTERIA”. The Sheffield performance in this work is the fourth concert of the “UK” leg. Speaking of the recording of “Crazy S.” from this UK tour, “THE RETURN OF THE THUNDERGOD: NOTTINGHAM 1987 (5th performance)” and the masterpiece “LEICESTER 1987 (15th performance)” which will be reissued this week are also very popular, but this work is one of the three masterpiece collections and is the earliest live album. And the taste is real and the sound is very stable. Both “THE RETURN OF THE THUNDERGOD” and “LEICESTER 1987” were famous recordings that made the name of “Crazy S.” known to the world, but if I had to point out a problem, it would be that the sound quality changed during the show. The beginning was a bit muffled, and it cleared up quickly around the 2nd and 3rd songs. In contrast, this work has a clear sound from the beginning, and it continues endlessly from beginning to end. To be honest, the bass in this work is slightly over-peaked, and the best sound quality at the moment in the three performances is “LEICESTER 1987”. However, it is this work that you can immerse yourself in with peace of mind. This is surprisingly large when you actually listen to it. As mentioned above, the muffled point of the previous two works is the beginning of the show. That’s why I felt “Well, it’s a good recording” at the start of the show. After that, there was a dynamism that surprised me when it became extremely clear, but the excitement of the start dash did not rise one bit. However, this work allows you to run through the heyday show without losing the strength of the fist you clenched as soon as you play it. And the show itself is also delicious. In general, “PYROMANIA” + “HYSTERIA” are the axis, but unlike now, it is just fresh. It seems that there were more “PYROMANIA” with a proven track record than “HYSTERIA” immediately after its release (8 out of 10 songs on the album are generous), and I was surprised to hear “Tear It Down” introduced as “a song from the next album”. The band’s potential that created the masterpiece explodes. Of course, this flavor was also available in “LEICESTER 1987,” but this work is even earlier. The set list is slightly different, and “Hysteria” and “Don’t Shoot Shotgun,” which were not heard on that masterpiece, are also played. In particular, “Don’t Shoot Shotgun” is a song that was sealed until the 2008 “HYSTERIA” complete reproduction tour, and was not seen in the official video “LIVE: IN THE ROUND, IN YOUR FACE.” This is a valuable piece where you can hear the live performance of originator Steve Clark when he was alive with clear sound. After the main part of DEF LEPPARD, TESLA, who opened the day, is also included. They are also in the midst of making their name known all over the world with their debut album “MECHANICAL RESONANCE.” This set is a condensed version of 9 songs from the album’s 12 songs, and the live version of “MECHANICAL RESONANCE” will run through the 45-minute time limit. This coupling was made possible because they were managed by the same company, but the compatibility between these two groups is excellent. One is American rock, but has a soulful flavor that does not rely on simple momentum. The other is a favorite of the era who does not hide his ambition to conquer America, but also blends in the sadness of British music. Although they come from across the ocean, both are catchy, melodic, and have a global perspective. They play youthful yet large-scale rock. TESLA, who has just launched into the world, and DEF LEPPARD, who is trying to conquer the entire globe. This is a vacuum-packed version of the most delicious era of both of them with 100% of the finest sound. For those who were moved by “THE RETURN OF THE THUNDERGOD” and “LEICESTER 1987”, you can experience that emotion again. Even if you’re not a fan, you can enjoy the pinnacle of shining melodic rock from 1987.
