Description
DEEP PURPLE from the Joe Satriani era was born due to the sudden departure of Ritchie Blackmore. The legendary original vacuum-packed recording of the two performances at Nippon Budokan has been updated and now available. This work was introduced at the “December 6th + 7th, 1993: Nippon Budokan” performance. This is a 4-disc audience recording set containing the full recording on 2 discs each. Although Satriani DP has not left behind any official works, it is an era that is officially recognized as an era. At our store, we have archived such valuable performances in Japan with a number of masterpiece live albums. This is a good opportunity to look back at your schedule at the time and organize your collection.・December 2nd “NAGOYA 1993” ・December 3rd “THE BATTLE RAGES IN OSAKA” ・December 5th “THE BATTLE RAGES IN YOKOHAMA” ・December 6th: Nippon Budokan ←★DISC 1-2★・December 7th: Nippon Budokan ←★Disc 3-4★ & “BATTLE RAGES AT BUDOKAN” ・December 8th “BATTLE MACHINE” *Note: Only representative works are shown on each day. Above, we have a lineup of all 6 performances with the best audience recordings. Of course, the highlight is the Nippon Budokan, which was also the stage for “MADE IN JAPAN”, and this work completely records those two nights. This work is a brush-up of the traditional recording that represented Nippon Budokan in 1993. It is a DAT master handed down by the recording artist himself, and is a famous recording that was once loved as “THE TOKYO BATTLE”. This work has been re-released on CD from its original DAT. Furthermore, it has been brushed up in line with modern audio standards. The key to upgrading is Rich & Vivid. Of course, we are not trying to increase the sound pressure in a reckless manner, but carefully examine the sound of each range from high to deep bass. The thin bass sounds with plenty of depth, but the outline is sharper rather than blurred, and the treble extension remains natural and vivid. We are trying not to spoil the reality that is unique to audience recording, but as you are immersed in it, you will even forget the fact that it is a guest record. It was originally a famous recording with a direct feeling without any sense of distance, but this work makes you feel like you are listening to the official live version. What is depicted in this upgraded sound is a group of famous songs reborn with Satriani’s virtuosity. Speaking of soundboards from this era, the FM sound source of “ST. GALLEN OPEN AIR” is famous (you can enjoy it on “THE BATTLE RAGES ON FIREBALL”), but that is just a digest according to the broadcast frame. On the other hand, this work is an audience recording that goes through two performances at once, and there is a lot of repertoire that cannot be heard on FM broadcast. Let’s compare and organize the sets here. Classics (12 songs + α) – In Rock: Child In Time (★) / Speed King – Fireball: Anyone’s Daughter (★) – Machine Head: Highway Star (★) / Maybe I’m A Leo / Pictures Of Home /Lazy (★) / Smoke On The Water ・Others: Black Night (★) / When A Blind Man Cries / Medley (★: Space Truckin’/Woman From Tokyo/Paint It Black) / Hush (★) Reorganization Era (6 Song) ・Perfect Strangers: Perfect Strangers/Knocking At Your Back Door (★) ・Purple Crusade: Ramshackle Man/A Twist In The Tale (★)/Anya (★)/The Battle Rages On *Note: “★ ” are songs that cannot be heard on the soundboard album “THE BATTLE RAGES ON FIREBALL”. …and it looks like this. The basics of the set are still based on the European tour half a month ago when Richie was there, but on the other hand, they have already begun to pick up songs that Richie could not have thought of. In addition to the new song “Ramshackle Man,” some of the most delicious songs are classics from the 70’s, such as “Maybe I’m A Leo,” “Pictures Of Home,” and “When A Blind Man Cries,” which were some of the most shocking and rare songs of the time. It’s scattered all over the place. And above all, the performance that depicts such famous songs is wonderful. In terms of Satriani’s familiarity, the European tour in the following summer of 1994 is likely to be the best, but on the contrary, this work is full of fresh surprise and excitement as if he had just discovered new possibilities. Satriani, who cherishes the original songs and original solos while interweaving shredded fast-playing at key points, is amazing even when listening to it now, and it can be said that his sense of phrasing that stands out even slightly is better than Moes. And the excitement of the four people inspired by Satriani! In the first place, it is well known that DEEP PURPLE is not a band supported by one person’s skill, but the essence is spontinous communication. That’s why fresh stimulation energizes the ensemble, and there are many member changes. And this work is extremely stimulating. The intense joy and sense of fulfillment that “I can do it without Richie!” is what drives the show. “IN ROCK” was a bet on turning to rock, and “MADE IN JAPAN” was filled with exoticism for the first time. DEEP PURPLE was a band that demonstrated their true ability when taking on new challenges. This work, too, is overflowing with its true value. A 4-disc set that updates the highest peak of legendary recordings, and is a masterpiece worthy of being called “MADE IN JAPAN 21 years later.” The best audience recording of the Joe Satriani era “December 6 + 7, 1993: Nippon Budokan” performance. The traditional DAT recording has been improved, and the thin bass sounds with plenty of depth, and the outline is even sharper. Originally it was a direct masterpiece recording with no sense of distance, but this work seems to be an official live album. “Ramshackle Man”, “Maybe I’m A Leo”, “Pictures Of Home”, “When A Blind Man Cries”, etc., which were impossible in the Ritchie era, are delicious, but beyond that is the performance itself. “MADE IN JAPAN 21 Years Later” is a stunning work of Satriani, who has a more flashy sense than Moes, and the excitement of the four people who were inspired by him.
