Description

A special video of the Joe Lynn Turner era’s Live in Japan is here. “SLAVES AND MASTERS JAPAN TOUR 1991” had a total of four performances, but this work was filmed as an audience shot of the only Kansai performance, “June 26, 1991: Osaka Castle Hall”. Let’s make sure to check the dates. ・June 24, 1991: Nippon Budokan ・June 25, 1991: Nippon Budokan ・June 26, 1991: Osaka Castle Hall [This work] ・June 27, 1991: Nippon Budokan Speaking of the audience shots of this day, I have previously introduced them as “OSAKA 1991: THE VIDEO”, but this work is a completely different shoot. It is a masterpiece that allows you to experience the complete form of the show, including “Lazy”, which was cut from “OSAKA 1991: THE VIDEO”. However, the quality is more intense than the complete recording. Unlike “OSAKA 1991: THE VIDEO”, which was shot on the first floor, this work is positioned on the second floor. It was shot from the left side of the stage (Jon Lord’s side), and although it was diagonal, it was very close. When you zoom in, you can clearly see not only John, but also Richie’s fingering on the other side of the stage, at an excellent angle, and the image quality is very clear. Although it was shot with analog video due to the era, there are no distortions or dubbing marks, the members’ colors emerge vividly, and the darkness is pitch black. The sound is as good as the view, and the clear sound that is suitable for a stage that fills the field of vision reaches you straight. Richie’s modest phrases dancing in improvisation and each hit of Ian Paice’s cymbal work that responds to it are clearly poured into your ears. What’s even more impressive is the cameraman’s technique. In “OSAKA 1991: THE VIDEO”, the cameraman of this work was tired of the slightly shaky angle, but it is clear that he is used to shooting. He has a firm understanding of DEEP PURPLE’s show, and while focusing on Joe and Richie, each person’s solo is perfect. On top of that, the zoom is also skillful, and even though it is a single camera, it is not bland, and the screen does not get out of hand even though it approaches Gugui. It is a masterpiece that you can enjoy the length of the full show to the fullest. The only “Osaka 91” drawn with that quality is also wonderful. It is familiar from the masterpiece 2CD “OSAKA 1991” recorded by Kinney, but the persuasiveness of witnessing the superb scene is exceptional. Joe’s singing voice is huskier and bluesier than in the RAINBOW era, but it stretches straight, and Richie also entangles the fascinating phrases in good condition. Pace, who was bland in the album “SLAVES AND MASTERS”, regains his original momentum, and John’s organ, which produces infinite phrases, imprints DEEP PURPLE. It’s like RAINBOW, but it’s not RAINBOW, and the flexible sympathy that only DEEP PURPLE can have is dazzling. Although it is the Joe era that has been completely suppressed from the official, the “purple glow” of this era is firmly engraved. This is a valuable record of the “SLAVES AND MASTERS TOUR 1991” with little footage itself, and a masterpiece video that allows you to experience the Japanese performance with great quality. This is a complete recording of the only “Osaka Night”. Live at Osaka-Jo Hall, Osaka, Japan 26th June 1991 AMAZING SHOT (96:23) 1. Intro./Burn 2. Black Night 3. Long Live Rock n’ Roll 4.
