Description
The latest in Kinney’s original cassette reprint series, this time it’s Live in Japan from the Joe Lynn Turner era in 1991! This “SLAVES AND MASTERS WORLD TOUR 1991” was the only tour where Japanese people could see “Ritchie Blackmore of DEEP PURPLE” and actually experience “Burn” where Ritchie and Jon Lord competed solo. This work is an audience album containing the Osaka performance with the best sound. First, let’s check the schedule for the Japanese performance. ・June 24, 1991: Nippon Budokan ・June 25, 1991: Nippon Budokan ・June 26, 1991: Osaka Castle Hall [This work] ・June 27, 1991: Nippon Budokan In this way, 1991 Of the 4 performances in the 2018 Japan tour, 3 performances were held at Nippon Budokan. This work is a Kinney recording recorded at the “June 26, 1991 Osaka Castle Hall” performance, which was the only live performance other than Budokan. This recording is a sound source that was released as “SLAVES AND MASTERS TOUR 1991” in the early days of CD. Of course, this work is not a copy of that, but a direct CD from the original DAT master. On top of that, we treated it with the latest mastering. Although the previous releases had the flat feel of the early CD era, this work has a vivid three-dimensional effect that the original DAT absorbed at the scene, and the freshness that can only be expected from a master direct has been revived. At the time, it was common to delete place and venue names, but this work reprints the original DAT without missing a single note. The uncut scene where Joe shouts “Osaka!” in “Black Night” is also included. Furthermore, there were two omissions in the original recording, but those parts were compensated for with “BLAZE AND FIRE” recorded separately on the same day, creating the first complete live version in history. The missing parts are 15 seconds of “Perfect Strangers” at 6 minutes and 32 seconds of “Knocking At Your Back Door” at 8 minutes. Both songs end with cheers and MC scenes, but due to the high-quality sound of “BLAZE AND FIRE” and natural processing, the seams are not noticeable at all. In other words, the show flows so naturally that you don’t really understand it even if you say “Here it is”. The Osaka performance revived with such a complete and Kinny sound is also a special live album when looking at “SLAVES AND MASTERS WORLD TOUR 1991” as a whole. Before I tell you why, let’s take a look at the world tour as a whole. ・February & March 1991: Europe #1 Tour (30 performances) ・April & May 1991: North American Tour (9 performances) ・June 1991: Japan & Asia Tour (6 performances) ・August 1991: South America tour (7 performances) / September 1991: Europe #2 & Middle East tour (7 performances) In this way, “SLAVES AND MASTERS WORLD TOUR 1991” was a small tour of about 60 performances, but the number of performances was He is blessed with a sound board that doesn’t suit him. “Europe #1” has professional shots from Czechoslovakia and Hungary, “North America” has soundboard recordings from Philadelphia, “South America” has Brazil, and “Europe #2/Middle East” has soundboard recordings from Israel. Among them, the only one that has to rely on the audience is the “Japan & Asia Tour”, and this work is the highest recording of that. In other words, it is one that represents the tour along with the masterpiece soundboard group not only in terms of quality but also in terms of recording. Even in DEEP PURPLE, where the official reprint is remarkable, the Joe Lynn Turner era was completely abandoned. It is a masterpiece that is recorded in Japan and boasts outstanding quality worldwide. This is the only live show from the Joe era that was held in “Osaka”, the place where “MADE IN JAPAN” was born and where the second period collapsed. A live album that revives it from the best Kinney DAT. Please experience this masterpiece that approaches the true value of the “Joe era” more than any studio work.
