Description
The shocking new excavation series, the real deal is here. This week, three live albums will be released simultaneously from the “fateful 1973”, and this is one of the best. This is the big decision board for the “June 25, 1973: Nippon Budokan” performance, known as the “night of the riots”. What’s most shocking is that this work is the simultaneous excavation of two types of new sound sources (!) that are being released for the first time. Although the excavation series from last week and this week were all new masters, the recordings themselves were the same as the previous ones. However, this work is a four-disc set with the “new master recording of the same recording as the previous one” on discs 1-2 and the “new recording” on discs 3-4. Of course, these two types are different recordings, so the missing parts such as tape changes are different. Therefore, it is not only a new excavation, but also a complete version that complements the two types. I’m curious about the contents, but this week, three albums will be released simultaneously from “Japan in 1973”. Let’s summarize the representative works of each day, including the meaning of sorting them out.・June 23: Hiroshima City Public Hall “DEFINITIVE HIROSHIMA 1973” ・June 24: Nagoya City Public Hall “DEFINITIVE NAGOYA 1973” ・June 25: Nippon Budokan [This work] ・June 26: Nippon Budokan (cancelled) ・June 27: Osaka Welfare Pension Hall “FINAL BLACK” ・June 29: Osaka Welfare Pension Hall “”THE END”” [Disc 1-2: Even longer riot master] First of all, the new master, which is the same recording as the previous one, has been upgraded. Speaking of the decision board of this day, it is the shocking work “BUDOKAN 1973” which also recorded the big riot, but this work is the same recording. However, it is a different master that is even longer and has a wonderful sound. First of all, the sound is surprising when you play it. It is a superb recording that has been praised as “Japan’s best sound in 1973” since the previous release, but this work has an even more natural and thick musical sound. The best thing about it is the clarity with minimal noise. Although “BUDOKAN 1973” was exceptional, it seems that there was some dubbing that raised the soft parts during distribution, and hiss noise and low-pitched hum noise were noticeable in the quiet parts. Therefore, there was a strange sense of incongruity in the dynamically developing songs. It’s a difficult expression to understand, so here’s a concrete example. If you already have it, please listen to the 18-minute part of “Space Truckin'”. It quietly increases the tension and explodes all at once! You can see that the hiss of “shi” gets bigger in this silence. When the performance comes in with a boom! The hiss disappears. This makes it sound like the tape is broken. However, this is a seamless performance. The master this time does not have such unnatural volume processing, and the soft parts remain soft. Even if it comes in with a boom! You can be exposed to the explosive power of the second period in an extremely natural way. Of course, this is just one example, and this is not the only amazing thing. The whole piece is full of natural and clear sounds. What’s even more shocking is the part that got longer. That part is none other than “that” big riot scene. In “BUDOKAN 1973”, the tape stopped once after the end of “Space Truckin'”. After that, about 50 seconds of the riot scene was recorded, but this work has 2 minutes and 17 seconds. Moreover, it’s not only long, but the content is also amazing. In “BUDOKAN 1973”, you could hear the destruction sound of a folding chair colliding, but after that it was even more terrible. When a woman screamed like a scream (it’s not that the words were inaudible, but that they were not words), the whole venue roared, the sound of glass breaking, the sound of a bang! The sound of something crashing! The sound of an impact… Furthermore, whether he was angry at the band or shouting at the mob, even the loud roar was firmly recorded. You can experience that freezing documentary even more realistically and for even longer. [Disc 3-4: New recordings appearing for the first time] The new master was amazing, but even more shocking is Disk 3-4. This is not an upgrade, but a new recording that will be released for the first time. As expected, the sound is inferior to the famous recording (Disc 1-2) that was touted as “Japan’s No. 1 in 1973”, but that can’t be helped since the other party is the “top”. This recording is also a wonderful vintage audience (otherwise it would not be pressed with coupling). What’s most pleasing is that Ritchie Blackmore’s guitar and Jon Lord’s organ are extremely thick and the details are clear. In particular, the guitars plucked between songs and in the very soft parts are picked up greatly. Even parts that were unclear even in the famous recording can be clearly heard. Also, as mentioned above, the cut points are different only for different recordings. The tape change part of “The Mule” (about 33 seconds), the cut point of Disk 1-2, is supplemented here. On the other hand, the cut points here (the opening part / 11 seconds in the middle of “Child In Time” / 30 seconds between songs after the end of “The Mule”) are complemented by the master of discs 1-2. Unfortunately, the first appearance master did not include the riot scene, but it was recorded about 10 seconds longer after the end of “Space Truckin'”. There are a lot of detailed stories, but this is nothing more than because “June 25: Nippon Budokan” is so historic. A new master who recorded that big riot for even longer, and a new first appearance master. And a complete version that was realized by mutual complementation, each of which is shocking. This new excavation series is undoubtedly the largest and strongest major work. Live at Budokan, Tokyo, Japan 25th June 1973 RECORDER 1 Disc 1 (45:16) 1. Intro. 2. Highway Star 3.
