Description
The legendary title called “The best sound quality MADE IN JAPAN in history” has been brushed up. The highest peak update sound that no one has ever heard has descended on the earth in the 40th anniversary! I never thought that such an album would be born. To be honest, it was unexpected. The initial plan was just to “reissue the most amazing MADE IN JAPAN”. It would have been fine to just make a straight 2nd. However, I just carried out the remaster with the intention of adding even a single stone to the top of the mountain, so that there might be some room for improvement. However, the result was an upgrade that far exceeded my imagination. It turned out to be a record that completely broke the world record. Of course, it is not a “self-satisfied album that has been modified as I pleased”. It is the birth of “MADE IN JAPAN that is more authentic and stands at a higher level”! The meter of the “British 8-track version MADE IN JAPAN” with the best sound quality in history has risen so much that it is unclear what I am saying. I’m sorry. I will cool my head and explain from the beginning. The true identity of this work is DEEP PURPLE’s… no, the masterpiece of the live album “MADE IN JAPAN”. It is the best sound version in history. The reason for the best in history is both the “source” and the “mastering”. First of all, the “source”. The source of this work is “MADE IN JAPAN: UK 8 TRACK STEREO CARTRIDGE”, which was released in 2016 and became a huge hit. This is a high-definition mastering of that shocking work. So what is “MADE IN JAPAN: UK 8 TRACK STEREO CARTRIDGE (hereinafter, the previous version)”? The official work “MADE IN JAPAN” has been released on various media such as LP, cassette, and CD, and “8 track cartridge” is one of them. Usually, when we say 8 track, the American version is the standard, but this album was created from the extremely rare 8 track “8X2-TPSP 351” released by Gramophone’s UK headquarters. Of course, the purpose is not rarity, but sound quality. Even audiophiles who have checked out all kinds of media were surprised by the highest quality sound. In fact, the sound is of an extraordinary dimension. Despite being analog, it is recorded with powerful sound pressure, and the details are super clear. We have been exploring “high quality MADE IN JAPAN” in every way, such as the legendary green label and the white label of the test press, but the “British 8-track” surpassed them all. What is amazing is the three-dimensional effect. I’m not talking about the three-dimensional effect between instruments (well, there is that too). The “grain” and “sound” of each sound of each instrument can be felt three-dimensionally. What’s even more surprising is that the mix was different. For example, “Space Truckin'”. The 16-beat hi-hat in the intro is swung left and right, unlike the conventional “MADE IN JAPAN” (especially when it opens up, it is swung strongly to the left). To be honest, the order of the songs is different due to the characteristics of the 8-track, and the cheers for “Strange Kind Of Woman” suddenly cut off. Although there was no indication that any special elaborate work was done for the 8-track, there was even a dedicated mix (!?) for the 8-track, which is in very limited circulation. High-definition remastering that focuses on the “true form” rather than modification This has become quite long, but here is the main point. This work transcends even the previous version. The reason for this is the ultra-high quality mastering. The method is not to create unnecessary sound pressure or power, but to “stay faithful to the basics while having extraordinary precision.” For example, pitch correction is fully compatible with random changes, and noise is processed after analyzing each frequency. Phase is also corrected without missing even a deviation of 1/1000 seconds. To be honest, because of the method, there are times when the original is not very different from the original, but this work is different. For example, phase. There was no deviation enough to make a difference in sound quality in the previous version, but this work has been adjusted with even higher precision. The slightly biased positioning of the phone is now perfectly centered. And the biggest effect is the wow and flutter. Since the 8-track is an analog tape, it seems that there was some unevenness in the transfer. Even those who have experienced the previous version may think, “Is that so?”, but when you actually listen to this work, it is completely different. The most obvious is probably Jon Lord’s organ. The light test play at the opening part and the intro of “Child In Time” are parts where only John plays. The sound fluctuates momentarily like a mistouch in some places, and (although it is difficult to hear) it changes unstably even over a long span. While playing the original “MADE IN JAPAN”, it judges “whether it is a disturbance in the performance or a vibration of the tape” one by one and corrects it to a normal state. A total of several hundred wow and flutters have been corrected. When you write it like this, you may think “Is the original messy?”, but those who have experienced the previous version will understand that it is not the case. It is clear that the disturbance was not noticed originally, but it became stable when it was fixed again … That is the type of upgrade of this work. The miraculous sound of the British 8-track was not lost, nor was it embellished, but the precision was pushed to the limit. This is what I meant at the beginning when I said, “This is not a self-satisfied version that has been modified as I pleased.” The British 8-track MADE IN JAPAN was highly praised by Stratford Transfer as having the “best sound quality in history.” This is the highest peak update version commemorating the 40th anniversary, in which the design was transferred to CD with even higher resolution. “MADE IN JAPAN” is an unexplored zone that has revealed a “height” that was not even expected. This is the highest peak update version, where the British 8-track cartridge version, which was called “the best sound quality in history MADE IN JAPAN,” has been polished up with high-resolution mastering. While the best sound in history itself remains intact, even the finest phase shifts and uneven rotation of the tape have been thoroughly corrected. The precision that does not allow even 1/1000th of a second of deviation and the carefulness in over a hundred places are already at the level of repairing a work of art. Although you didn’t notice any irregularities to begin with, once it was corrected you could clearly hear that it was perfectly stable… This is the birth of “MADE IN JAPAN,” which embodies “unknown heights.” (Remastering notes) Phase correction Wow and flutter (rotational irregularities) have been completely corrected (to a great extent). It is now in an ideal, perfect state. Taken from the original UK PURPLE RECORDS (EMI RECORDS-The Gramophone Company Ltd) 8 track cartridge (8X2-TPSP 351) (75:54) 1. Highway Star 2. Child In Time 3.
