Description
The shock of the historic excavation of “UK 8 TRACK” is back. Last year, the shocking work “MADE IN JAPAN: UK 8 TRACK STEREO CARTRIDGE” revealed the highest peak sound that no one had ever known, and ended the long-standing “quest for the best masterpieces”. Not only was the “UK version 8 track cartridge” extremely rare, but no one had ever imagined that it contained sounds that would update the highest peak in history and other mix takes. It was a bolt from the blue. However, “MADE IN JAPAN” was not the only one released on “UK version 8 track”. This work is the 8 track of “MACHINE HEAD”, which was also released by “UK PURPLE RECORDS”. It is the studio masterpiece version of that shocking work. The 8 track cartridge was proudly enclosed in a gold package with “The Biggest Sound Around” printed on it. There is a photo, but this is the actual thing. This work is a CD made from this actual thing. The most important thing is the sound, but even before that, the contents are different. The recording format and time are different between the analog LP and the 8-track cartridge, and the order of the songs has been changed significantly accordingly. First, let’s take a look at the overview. Highway Star Smoke On The Water (Part 1) Smoke On The Water (conclusion) Lazy Space Truckin’ Pictures Of Home Maybe I’m A Leo Never Before It is adjusted to fit into the length of just under 10 minutes, and the reality of 1972 is reflected in the boldness of dividing “Smoke On The Water” into two. In this work, the historic cartridge is made into a CD as it is, and a “fixed version” of the last divided “Smoke On The Water” is seamlessly re-edited as a bonus. Now, let’s move on to the main topic. The sound, which is the most important thing, is completely different. There seems to be no difference in the mix like in “MADE IN JAPAN”, but the feel is comparable to that. The thick sound unique to 8-track tape, which is different from both LP and CD, roars, while the details are delicate. And the natural “sound” is wonderful, with no post-processing at all. It has a vintage “1972” feel that is hard to describe, but it is also strangely vivid and fresh. The bass is particularly shocking. For example, compared to the current 40th anniversary version (of course, the original MIX), it does not have the digital sharpness, but the bass line still stands out beautifully. In the part where the guitar and organ unison in “Highway Star”, even the 40th anniversary version emphasizes the chord feeling and the outline becomes unclear, but in this work, even in such a casual part, the line is clearly understood. The attack sound itself is more flashy on the 40th anniversary version, and there is no such artificiality in this work. Despite this, this work is more vivid. Of course, this beauty can be said not only for the bass but also for all instruments and all parts. The rise of the sound is never sharp, but it is clear, and the sound is so clear that it even makes you feel the “vibe”. And yet it’s so natural, and just like “MADE IN JAPAN: UK 8 TRACK STEREO CARTRIDGE”, it’s full of tactile realism…. It’s a “MACHINE HEAD” that you’ve never heard before. Although it’s not as surprising as “MADE IN JAPAN”, which even had a different mix, the unknown “The Biggest Sound Around” is still a tremendous shock. This week, the superb “MACHINE HEAD”, which even core enthusiasts didn’t know existed, will appear. A great masterpiece of the century that will captivate you with a new look after 45 years.
