Description
The legendary band CAPTAIN BEYOND and the first DEEP PURPLE. A precious professional shot centered around Rod Evans has been decided to be released. There are two types of professional shots on TV broadcasts in this work. The first is “SUPER POP MONTREUX” on CAPTAIN BEYOND “April 30, 1971”, and the second is “PLAYBOY AFTER DARK” on “October 23, 1968” where the first DEEP PURPLE appeared. Let’s take a closer look at each one. [CAPTAIN BEYOND: SUPER POP MONTREUX 1972] The main feature of this work is the extremely valuable “moving CAPTAIN BEYOND”. It is also a multi-camera professional shot that captures the “original four people” who created the great album “CAPTAIN BEYOND”. That alone is extremely valuable, but it is even more amazing when you consider the time period. Let’s look back at CAPTAIN BEYOND’s early days. May 1971: IRON BUTTERFLY breaks up July 1971: CAPTAIN BEYOND is formed – half a year later March 1972: Signs with Capricorn April 1972: SUPER POP MONTREUX ←★Here★ May 1972: BICKERSHAW FESTIVAL June 1972: Debut album released (July in the US) July-August 1972: North American tour This is the flow from the formation of IRON BUTTERFLY to the release of their debut album. This week we will be featuring the live album “BICKERSHAW FESTIVAL 1972 (Uxbridge 688)” which captures their early days, but this album was released about a week before that. The quality based on the video master is wonderful with a solid texture, and above all, it is wonderful to be able to witness CAPTAIN BEYOND in a full-color professional shot. “I Can’t Feel Nothin’ Parts 1 & 2”, which was divided into two parts on the album, was also performed as a medley, and “Dancing Madly Backwards (On a Sea of Arts)”, which decorated the opening of the masterpiece “CAPTAIN BEYOND”, was also performed. Although it is only two songs, it is a masterpiece video with a super unique psychedelic progressive rock that fills the screen. [DEEP PURPLE # 1: PLAYBOY AFTER DARK] Next is another precious professional shot of the first period of DEEP PURPLE. It is a pattern from when they appeared on the TV program “PLAYBOY AFTER DARK”. “Hush” is also included in the official DVD “HISTORY, HITS & HIGHLIGHTS ’68?’76”, but this work is a full view of the appearance corner. “And the Address” and an interview are also included. It’s a performance on a set within the station, but the mood is amazing. It’s too amazing. Rod’s gold spats and the appearance of John Lord answering the interview as a leader are also strong, but even more than that is Ritchie Blackmore. Dressed in a green, sparkling costume, he hands the show host an ES355 and lectures him on how to play the guitar with a smile (you can also hear him teaching). I thought, what can I make that grumpy guy do… but Richie clapped “Ohhh” just by the host’s one shot… The performance scene was also intense. The set was set up like some kind of floor, and blonde beauties and black people in tuxedos were twisting and dancing. The show was directed in a way that was completely different from soul music, but Richie took that action with the ES355, and Ian Paice went wild and beat the drums as usual. It was a chaotic scene. CAPTAIN BEYOND, which seems to show off the essence of rock, and the first period of DEEP PURPLE, which plays a strange scene in a fierce misunderstanding. The moving figure alone is valuable, but the content is also rich, full-color pro shots. 28 minutes that were possible only because of the moment when the “60s” changed to the “70s”.
