Description

Diamond Dave has resumed his full-fledged solo career for the first time in 14 years. Here is a superb video that allows you to experience his kick-off performance with a spectacular view. There are two performances included in this work. “Las Vegas performance on January 8th + 10th, 2020″. This is a superb audience shot that fully records the show held at the prestigious “House of Blues”. Dave returned to VAN HALEN in 2007, but after that he did not have any regular solo activities (although there were some one-off stages and media appearances) and concentrated on his old club. However, VAN HALEN itself went silent after the 2015 North American tour. Plans for recording and touring have been rumored many times, but have yet to materialize. It got to the point where Dave himself said, “I think VAN HALEN is over.” And Dave, who was tired of such a situation, restarted after a 5-year hiatus. I started touring as a solo artist. This work is the first report of such a latest tour. First of all, let’s take a look at Dave’s current status based on the schedule that has been announced so far.・January 8th-11th: Las Vegas #1 (3 performances) ←★Here★ February 1st-March 15th: North America (23 performances) ・March 18th-28th: Las Vegas #2 (6 performances) )・May 1st: EPICENTER FESTIVAL August 28th – October 2nd: North America (19 performances) *Note: “◆” will participate as a special guest on the KISS tour. This is Dave now. It has been announced that he will accompany KISS on their “END OF THE ROAD WORLD TOUR” as a special guest, which has become a hot topic, but in addition to that, he will also be performing solo in Las Vegas and appearing at “Epicenter Festival”. It is planned. Under such circumstances, the two performances of this work are the first of Lee’s solo resumption. It is a two-disc set with the first day and second day on one disk for the first time in 14 years. This work, which records such two performances, is truly spectacular and exquisite. Although there is a difference in angle, the first day (disc 1) is slightly to the left of the stage, and the second day (disc 2) is in front of the stage, the image quality with the latest equipment is unusually beautiful, and there is no obstruction due to the zoom that approaches boldly. Not only is the entire field of view occupied by the stage and Dave, but there is also a tremendous sense of stability, and the scene continues endlessly, as if it were a professional shot angle. And the audio is also great. As expected, you can’t mistake it for a sound board, but the core is sturdy and has a clear outline. Surrounding audience noise is also surprisingly low, allowing you to enjoy the full show without any worries. What is depicted in such superb quality is the revival of Diamond Dave! Full show. The first thing that surprised me was the set list. After the attempted return of VAN HALEN that occurred in 1996, the show was somewhat like a cover band, with the feeling of “VAN HALEN + 1-2 solo songs”, but this time there were plenty of solos as well. He is putting on a show that sums up his magnificent career. Let’s summarize the two performances here. VAN HALEN (14 songs) / Flame Fuse: You Really Got Me / Jamie’s Cryin’ / Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love / Atomic Punk (first day only) / Runnin’ With The Devil (second day only) / Ice Cream Man (2nd day only)・Legendary Bomber: Dance The Night Away/Beautiful Girls・Dark Law: Everybody Wants Some!! (2nd day only)・Martial Law: Unchained/Mean Street・Diver Down: Oh, Pretty Woman (2nd day only)・1984: Panama/Jump Solo (6 songs)・CRAZY FROM THE HEAT: California Girls/Just A Gigolo/I Ain’t Got Nobody・EAT ‘EM AND SMILE: Tobacco Road・SKYSCRAPER: Just Like Paradise, YOUR FILTHY LITTLE MOUTH: Big Train, Others: Fresh Out (2nd day only)… and so on. The distribution is approximately “VAN HALEN = 2/3 + Solo = 1/3”, which is very well balanced. Moreover, not only the familiar “CRAZY FROM THE HEAT” number and “Just Like Paradise” but also “Tobacco Road” for the first time in 21 years and Christone Ingram’s cover “Fresh Out” which will be the first time. The biggest surprise among all of that was “Big Train.” He is singing the hidden masterpiece of “YOUR FILTHY LITTLE MOUTH”. It can’t be said that it’s a masterpiece, but rather it was selected from an album from a period of decline… However, even though it is not well known, this song itself is a masterpiece that shines in Dave’s style from a very wonderful and urban album. It’s not just a rare song, but it’s a song that makes me wonder if they’ll reprint it from “A LITTLE AIN’T ENOUGH” or “DLR BAND” on their upcoming tour. And above all, Dave’s personality explodes as he plays such a set! I’m happy about that. As expected, he’s 65 years old, so he doesn’t have the youthful rampage, but his service spirit is still intact, with his big, stylish actions, flashy costumes, and even wigs. And that singing voice and sense of shouting. It shows off a gorgeous performance that is none other than Dave. One of the more interesting things about this is talk. He talks about this a lot in his own way, but on the first day (disc 1), he couldn’t stop talking, probably because he was excited about being on stage for the first time in a while. In fact, although Disc 1 is longer, it has four fewer songs. He was probably planning to play more, but maybe he was talking too much and didn’t have enough time. That’s how much Dave in this work is also in great shape. David Lee Roth returned to the forefront in 2020. Although VAN HALEN’s silence is extremely disappointing, their famous songs are still alive. Furthermore, it is a superb video set that allows you to experience the entire two revival performances that were cherished from his solo career.
