Description

In 1995, Bowie conducted a coupling tour with NINE INCH NAILS (hereinafter referred to as NIN), the darling of the new generation of industrial rock. A professional shot work featuring co-starring parts that was a hot topic at the time has been decided to be released. This work was filmed at the “St. Louis performance on October 11, 1995.” This is the multi-camera pro shot. The coupling tour was also an act of “SELF DESTRUCT TOUR” from the NIN side, but here, let’s check the show’s position from the Bowie side’s “OUTSIDE TOUR” perspective. ●1995 [“OUTSIDE” released on September 25th]・September 14th – October 31st: North America (23 performances) ←★Here★・November 14th – December 13th: UK (16 performances)● 1996, January 17th – February 20th: Europe #1 (23 performances), June 4th – 13th: Japan (7 performances), June 18th – July 21st: Europe #2/ Israel (20 performances) This is the whole picture of “OUTSIDE TOUR”. Among these, only the “North American” leg was a coupling, and that was also a total of 22 performances other than the last day. The St. Louis performance of this work was the 12th concert. This show also has a superb soundboard recording, and it is also very popular in our store’s “ST. LOUIS 1995: DAT MASTER”. This work is one of the video editions. However, it is not a full show. This coupling tour is known for its unusual taste, and the undercard NIN and Bowie’s show are inseparable. At first, NIN’s solo show will be held, but Bowie will appear at the end of it. As they perform together, NIN leaves the stage, Bowie’s band members join, and through a complex gradation, it transforms into Bowie’s solo stage. The Uxbridge edition was a 3-disc set that allowed you to listen to everything from PRICK, which served as the opening act, to NIN and Bowie, but this work features the co-starring part (about 45 minutes) that changes from NIN to Bowie. Let’s summarize the flow here. ・1st song: NIN “Wish (NIN song)” ・2nd song: Bowie & NIN “Subterraneans (Bowie song)” ・3rd song: Bowie & NIN “Scary Monsters (Bowie song)” ・4th song: Bowie & NIN “Reptile (NIN song)” )”・5th song: Bowie Band & NIN “Hallo Spaceboy (Bowie song)” ・6th song: Bowie Band & Reznor “Hurt (NIN song)” ・7th song onwards: Bowie Band (Bowie song)… This is how it works. Not only the members but also the songs have a gradation. While playing Bowie songs and NIN songs alternately, Bowie then the band members appeared in that order. Both full members co-star in “Hallo Spaceboy”. After that, the NIN members left, and finally Reznor left. This work, which depicts an elaborate composition unlike any other, is also of the highest quality. It’s a so-called official level pro shot, but it’s a little different from just an official level shot. Fierce angles are repeated at an alarming rate, and each cut is created with a variety of video processing techniques. Song title screens and credits are also inserted between songs to create a thorough work-style feel. Although there is no doubt that it is a performance scene on stage, it is a video that is more suitable to be called a video clip rather than a vivid live image. This is perfect for a luxurious collaboration. The two stages intersect, fuse, and transform… Precisely because they are both charismatic old and new, each boasting a unique worldview, the meticulously crafted images highlight overwhelming aesthetics and the significance of co-starring. In addition to such a co-starring stage, this work also includes a bonus joint MTV interview between Bowie and Trent Reznor. This is a thorough compilation of professional shot footage left from the miraculous coupling tour. Bowie and NIN’s coupling tour symbolized the “OUTSIDE” era even more than the album. A live video that allows you to witness that unique world of music… no, it’s a video art. This is a “clash” and “fusion” of music on a different level than just a “celebrity collaboration”.
