Description
A collection of the legendary Ziggy Stardust live video archives! A special collector’s edition of three discs including the original video version, the precious TV broadcast version, and the theatrical widescreen HD Blu-ray. A historical live video compilation that covers all the different versions! Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture is a film of Ziggy Stardust’s last performance at Hammersmith, London in 1973. This legendary live performance was not released at the time, but was released in 1983 10 years later, and has been released in many forms such as live albums, videos, and DVDs, each with different editing content. This “The Movie Archives” compiles versions that are now difficult to obtain and valuable versions that are different from the current release. The first DVD, “THE ORIGINAL VIDEO VERSION 1983”, contains the original video version from 1983, which was first released on video as the movie “Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture” 10 years after 1973. This version was overdubbed to reinforce the poor original sound source, and guitar and piano were added, as well as chorus and clapping, and major revisions from the original drew mixed reviews, but the sound and video were remastered and restored, and the 30th anniversary 2003 version, which became a standard, was revised based on the original. This 1983 original video version is now out of print and the quality is inferior, but it is a valuable sound source with a different mix from the current version, and this time, in addition to the original soundtrack, a newly improved stereo remastered sound source is also included. This is a restored version with improved quality from the original at that time. The second DVD contains “THE ORIGINAL TV BROADCAST 1974”, which was broadcast on TV in 1974 before it was made into a movie. This video includes additional footage, including a collaboration with Jeff Beck, which was aired as a 60-minute TV special at the time and later sealed away, and although the quality of the video and sound has deteriorated, the video editing is different in places from the later official release, and the collaboration with Jeff Beck that is currently available is recorded in the original edited video with different angles. In addition, the extra video includes a piano medley by Mike Garson, which has not yet been released, and two alternate versions edited differently from the main version. And the Blu-ray includes a widescreen HD remastered version for theaters as the “WIDE SCREEN FULL HD VERSION”. The screen aspect ratio of the videos and DVDs released so far, the long-standing standard 2003 version, and even the recent 4K remastered version is 4:3 (black borders on the left and right on current TVs), but this widescreen HD remastered video for theaters is recorded in 16:9 full screen. In comparison, it is not simply a zoomed-in shot, but is recorded with a wider field of view without cutting off the left and right sides, making it a widescreen HD remastered movie for theaters with different trimming and editing that can only be seen here. This notable version, which has never been released on BD before, is fully recorded with the highest image and sound quality with full HD (1920×1080) video and high-resolution audio (Linear PCM 96khz/24bit). In addition, a theatrical trailer not included on the DVD has been added as a bonus video. Each version is a special collector’s edition that is attracting attention as a culmination of valuable video archives that differs from the long-standing standard 2003 version and the current release. The 1983 original video version, first released on video as the film “Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture,” is now included in its entirety with the latest stereo remastered sound source with improved sound quality. The rare TV broadcast version of “London Show” aired in 1974 and the unreleased original version with Jeff Beck, which was sealed at the time, as well as unedited footage are also included. This is the first time that the widescreen HD remastered footage for theaters, which has been trimmed and edited differently, is available on Blu-ray.
