Description

Tokyo Dome in 1990 was the ultimate greatest hits tour and Bowie’s biggest performance in Japan. The ultimate soundboard album that updates its longest and highest peak is now available. What is included in this work is, of course, “May 16, 1990: Tokyo Dome Performance”. This is a super superb stereo soundboard recording recorded at the second performance of “Big Egg Live” which was realized only for two nights. If you have been paying attention to this article, you probably know that this show is one of the most standard shows that has been broadcast on TV and radio. In particular, the full professional shot by our first leaked master is still popular worldwide. Thus, the show is a classic, but this work itself is not. It is a newly discovered master recently, and it is a new masterpiece that updates the highest peak in sound and recording time. [Superb soundboard with a completely different mix and a sense of work] The true identity of the new master is the FM soundboard of the famous North American program “WESTWOOD ONE”. However, it is not an air check but a pre-FM master before broadcasting. It is clear that it is a different master because the opening part is about 2 minutes long, but that is not the case. The essential sound is completely different. The audio of the leaked pro shot was also an official sound board, but this work is different for each mix and is even more “work-like”. Although the sound quality of the complete version of the pro shot was of official quality, the mix was closer to the center and the spread was not emphasized, perhaps because the final goal was TV output. However, in this work, the panning of each instrument is vivid, and each drum beat spins around your head. Of course, Bowie’s vocal effects and chorus also feel wide-ranging and are very separate. The SE group is more extreme. This is clear from the first song “Space Oddity”. In the song, “Seven, six, five…one, Lift off” is played, but in the soundboard audio up until now, it could hardly be heard, probably because it did not interfere with the vocals. However, this work is perfect. Of course, the stereo feel and volume balance are precisely controlled, and they don’t interfere with the vocals. It is clearly a highly complete sound that was painstakingly created by the engineer afterwards. What’s more, even the loud cheers are different. The cheers of the complete version of the pro shot have a high tone as a whole, and it gives a strong feeling of the “Japanese Western music scene” with a mix of yellow chants. However, while the cheers of this work are low and vast, it has a genderless sound. Perhaps it’s because of the North American broadcast, but rather than “Japan!”, the cheers have a worldwide sense of statelessness. However, what is strange is that there is no sense of discomfort. I think it would have been a bit too obvious if the cheers had been replaced completely, but it fits the song’s idea and mood perfectly, and it really sounds like the cheers from the scene. Even if it doesn’t use the cheers from the scene, it has a natural level of perfection. The finish is exactly the same as the official work. [Live album that allows you to fully experience the greatest hits in the past] It is truly a shocking new master, but this work has an additional twist. The master itself that appeared on the internet was the longest ever, but not all. That was after the performance. Approximately 1 minute of the final part, which was recorded only on the professional shot master excavated by our shop, has been added, making it the longest updated version of this work in the world. You may be thinking, “Why is the cheer so long?”, but that’s not the case. The announcements in the venue are full of the times. Let’s write it down a bit. “Tonight’s concert has now ended. This event will be broadcast as “Bun○ Broadcast Special: David Bowie EXCITING NIGHT ON RADIO” on Monday, May 21st from 9:00 pm on Bunka Shun. It will also be broadcast on N○K Satellite Broadcasting on June 11th.We will be closed from now on, so please take a seat in your seats. Therefore, please cooperate with us in regulated exits.” Well, even the Japanese broadcasting station and broadcast date are clearly announced. With “WESTWOOD ONE” you can enjoy a sense of the era that is absolutely impossible. Although we have only talked about the sound and length, the main point of this work is that it is a treasure trove of masterpieces written with the highest quality. This is a familiar set, but it’s also a good opportunity to organize it. 60’s/Early 70’s (10 songs)・SPACE ODDITY: Space Oddity・HUNKY DORY: Changes/Life On Mars?・ZIGGY STARDUST: Starman/Ziggy Stardust/Suffragette City/Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide・ALADDIN SANE: Panic In Detroit/The Jean Genie ・DIAMOND DOGS: Rebel Rebel late 70’s (8 songs) ・YOUNG AMERICANS: Young Americans/Fame ・STATION TO STATION: TVC 15/Stay/Station To Station ・LOW: Be My Wife/Sound And Vision・”HEROES”: Heroes from the 80’s onwards (7 songs), SCARY MONSTERS: Ashes To Ashes/Fashion, LET’S DANCE: Let’s Dance/China Girl/Modern Love, TONIGHT: Blue Jean, YOUNG LIONS: Pretty Pink Rose. It’s a super luxurious album that will be called the “best of” album. I have been able to enjoy such a full show until now, but this work has the completeness and “work feel” of an official product. It is an upgrade album that cannot be ignored as a Japanese performance collection, but more than that, it is a two-disc set that is a “live version of Greatest Hits” as a musical work.
