Description
Bowie-style cover album “Pinups” that sings the origin of nostalgic 60s British rock Ultimate vintage analog sound source + TV video complete reprint collection 2024 latest edition = David Bowie / Pinups: Premium Master Collection {Reel master tape * 8 track tape * RCA original CD first edition} Complete reprint of each original sound source + 1973 Midnight Special TV complete version video footage! David Bowie’s seventh album “Pinups” was released in 1973 when he suddenly sealed away Ziggy Stardust and underwent his next transformation. Although it is a cover album that pays tribute to Pretty Things, The Who, Yardbirds, Pink Floyd, Kinks, etc. that influenced Bowie in the 60s, it ranked first in the album chart for five consecutive weeks in the UK, where it was at the height of its popularity at the time. Although it was not considered important as a cover album planned to connect “Aladdin Sane” and “Diamond Dogs”, and there are mixed opinions, it is evaluated as a work full of Bowie’s unique sense, including the song selection and original arrangement. The first half of the CD contains the original analog sound source from the open reel master (REEL-TO-REEL) released in 1973. The sound closest to the original, with a high quality sound texture, is a complete reproduction of the original analog sound source, which is different from later digital remasters. In addition, two bonus tracks from the time of the release of RYKO in the 1990s are also included. The second half of the CD contains a valuable 8-track tape sound source that was limitedly distributed in the 1970s. Although the sound quality is inferior to that of the 8-track tape sound source, it contains a rare sound source that is attracting attention as an alternate mix with a different stereo separation, a song order that ignores the original, and a dynamic sound like mono. The first half of the DVD is a high-resolution audio DVD containing the high-resolution sound source of the open reel master and a valuable early CD sound source. The main Audio 1 is recorded in 96khz/24bit high-resolution quality, which reproduces the sound source from the open reel master released in 1973 with high sound quality better than CD, just like CD. Audio 2 is recorded from the original RCA CD first pressing when it was first released on CD in 1984, which is now difficult to obtain and traded at a high price. The analog sound source that has not been digitally remastered is recorded as it is, and the difference with Audio 1 can be compared by switching the selection of Audio Select. The playback screen is recorded in slide show format, where the photo image from the photo session at that time changes for each song. In addition, this DVD has a complete reprint of “Midnight Special”, which was broadcast on TV in 1973 and has been sealed for a long time, as a video section. The special performance filmed as “The 1980 Floor Show” at the London Marquee Club in October 1973 when the album “Pinups” was released was not released in the UK at the time, but was broadcast on the popular music program “Midnight Special” in the US in November 1973. The complete uncut version of the original master broadcast at the time has been made into a video, including the opening of Wolfman Jack, guest appearances by Marianne Faithfull, Carmen, and the Troggs, as well as the intermediate commercials. It is recorded in an HQ remastered version with the latest original edit that has restored some of the noise and cuts caused by the original master. The reel master tape, which is attracting attention as the analog sound source closest to the original, is completely reproduced on CD. The 8-track tape sound source with a different song order and mix that was limitedly distributed in the 1970s is also included on CD. As a high-resolution audio DVD, the reel master sound source and the first RCA original CD version are recorded with an audio option that allows comparison playback of two types of sound sources. The “Midnight Special” that was broadcast on TV in 1973 and has been sealed for a long time is completely reproduced! The complete uncut version of the original master broadcast at the time is now available on video. Recorded in HQ remastered version with the latest original edit.
