Description

The gorgeous birthday concert held at Madison Square Garden in New York on January 9, 1997, the day after Bowie’s 50th birthday, is here in a long version that lasts a total of 2 hours and 58 minutes, including precious footage such as press conferences and rehearsal footage. While some of the concert was aired on TV in Japan and various videos have been distributed, this DVD compiles everything about this memorable night, including additional footage from a different camera, EPKs, and press conferences. At the time, he released the controversial psycho-horror album “Outside” and was on a joint tour with NIN, and many alternative artists appeared as guests. “Scary Monsters” with Frank Black of PIXES, “Hallo Spaceboy” with Dave Grohl, “I’m Afraid Of Americans” with SONIC YOUTH, “All the Young Bastards” with Billy Corgan, the beautiful “Quicksand” with Robert Smith, and the most exciting of all, the four songs with Lou Reed are sure to give you goosebumps. In addition to the familiar Bowie classics, he also performed songs from “Earthling,” which was released the following month, showing the ever-present side of Bowie. Furthermore, this expanded version includes 48 minutes of bonus footage in addition to the 130 minutes of the main feature, including live footage from the press conference with Robert Smith, and a completely different camera source. In addition, you can get a glimpse of interviews with each guest produced as an EPK, and studio rehearsals held prior to the concert, making this a must-have collector’s edition for those who want to know about Bowie’s energetic period at the age of 50. 1 : Opening / Little Wonder / Heart’s Filthy Lesson / Scary Monsters With Frank Black / Fashion With Frank Black / Telling Lies / Hallo Spaceboy With The Foofighters / Seven Years In Tibet With Dave Grohl / The Man Who Sold The World / The Last Thing You Should Do With Robert Smith / Quicksand With Robert Smith / Battle For Britain / The Voyeur Of Utter Destruction (As Beauty) / I’m Afraid Of Americans With Sonic Youth / Looking For Satellites / Under Pressure / Heroes disc 2 : Queen Bitch With Lou Reed / I’m Waiting For The Man With Lou Reed / Dirty Boulevard With Lou Reed / White Light White Heat With Lou Reed / Moonage Daydream – Band Introduction / Happy Birthday To Bowie / All The Young Dudes With Billy Corgan / The Jean Genie With Billy Corgan / Space Oddity / I Can’t Read / Repetition (Dressing Room Sequence) / Ending [50TH BIRTHDAY BASH 1997 : at Madison Square Garden, NYC, NY USA 9th January 1997] (Press Conference feat.
