Description

Bowie in the latter half of 1974, when he rapidly became addicted to soul music. We present you with a precious and exquisite collection of footage that allows you to meet Bowie from the same period. The main focus of this work is the popular TV program “THE DICK CAVETT SHOW” recorded on “November 2, 1974”. It was broadcast after “THE SOUL/PHILLY DOGS TOUR” ended, but at the time of recording, the tour was in full swing. You can see Bowie on the other side of the main press CD. This video has traditionally been known for its difficult-to-see monochrome images, but this work is full color that is vivid to the eye. Moreover, the master freshness is outstanding, there is no dubbing mark or deterioration over time, and it is of the highest quality that can be officially released even in the modern digital age. The program shown in that quality starts with personality Dick Cavett introducing Bowie’s career. You can also see the performance of three songs, “1984”, “Young Americans” and “Footstompin'”, with a conversation in between. It’s wonderful to see the precious 1974 Bowie in the best quality, but what’s even more shocking is Bowie himself. He was known to have been suffering from serious drug addiction during this period, and in this work he looks extremely thin. His performance is as passionate as ever, and he talks harmoniously in the conversation, but his smile with his cheekbones sticking out is painful… After that TV program, in addition to the TV commercial for the album “DIAMOND DOGS”, nine precious live videos were recorded. Each one is a collection of different live performances and materials. The quality and type vary from rehearsals filmed by related parties, 8mm footage with soundboard audio over it, audience footage to crisp professional shots. However, all of them are full color footage of the highest quality ever. Bowie was mentally cornered by troubles with staff and backing bands while sealing off the fictional star “Ziggy”. He was consumed by a life of relying on little food and medicine, but he discovered soul music and began a new journey…. At that moment, Bowie was in the mid-70s, facing music sincerely despite his hesitation. This is a masterpiece video that allows you to meet him, who was still mysteriously beautiful. This luxurious set tells the story of “1974,” a special year in Bowie’s life, with a superb live album and rare footage.
