Description
David Bowie in 1983 was at the peak of his career as a pop star. The legendary recording of the glorious “SERIOUS MOONLIGHT Tour” has been decided to be released. This work is recorded in “London performance on the 4th of January 1983”. It is a superb audience recording recorded at the famous venue “Wembley Arena”. The biggest point of this work is the beautiful sound, but first of all, the position of the show. Let’s take a bird’s-eye view of the tour outline that was the largest, longest and most successful tour in Bowie’s career. “LET’S DANCE” released on April 14th. May 18-29: Europe #1 (10 performances) May 30: US Festival appearance June 2-July 3: Europe #2 (21 performances) ←★Here★ July 11-September 17: North America (43 performances) ←※Official video etc. October 20-31: Japan (10 performances) ←※DEFINITIVE BUDOKAN 1983 etc. November 4-26: Oceania (10 performances) ←※SYDNEY 1983 December 3-8: Asia (4 performances) This is David Bowie in 1983. The symbol of the tour is the official work “SERIOUS MOONLIGHT” from the Vancouver performance, but the Wembley performance of this work was a part of “Europe #2” about three months before that. Our shop archives the glory scene with as many masterpieces as possible, and this “Europe # 2” is no exception. Let’s focus on the dates and organize the collection. Details of the “Europe # 2” leg ・ June 2nd + 3rd (2 performances) * June 4th: Wembley performance ← ★ This work ★ ・ June 5th-12th (6 performances) * June 15th “BOCHUM 1983” ・ June 17th-26th (6 performances) * June 28th “EDINBURGH 1983” ・ June 30th + July 1st (2 performances) * July 2nd “MILTON KEYNES 1983 2ND NIGHT” ・ July 3rd: Milton Keynes performance (3rd day) This work, which vacuum-packed such a show, is a superb recording with “super”. It was digitized from the original master handed over by the recording artist himself, and further elaborate mastering was also carried out. In fact, the sound is outside the common sense of the audience. Another press masterpiece from this “Europe #2” “MILTON KEYNES 1983 2ND NIGHT (Wardour-182)” has also become a big staple, but that was a direct feeling because it was outdoors with zero echo, but this work boasts the same or better vividness despite being indoors. The only proof of the audience is that the sound of the toms is a little similar and the applause between songs is the vividness. It is a precise sound that does not feel out of place even if it is said to be an FM broadcast, and at the same time, it is ferociously real. Although it was recorded by a veteran master, that alone does not explain it. It is a beautiful recording that can only be thought of as “the goddess of recording is smiling”. Such a miraculous beautiful sound depicts a treasure trove of masterpieces that can be said to be “the essence of the SERIOUS MOONLIGHT Tour”. However, it is a set that is similar but not the same as the official work “SERIOUS MOONLIGHT”, so let’s compare them and check them. 80’s (7 songs) Scary Monsters: Fashion/Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)/Ashes To Ashes Let’s Dance: Let’s Dance/Cat People (Putting Out Fire)/China Girl/Modern Love Classics (18 songs) Ziggy Era: Star (★)/Cracked Actor/Hang On To Yourself (★)/The Jean Genie (★) Young Americans: Young Americans/Fame Station to Station: Golden Years/Station To Station/Stay (★) Berlin Trilogy: “Heroes”/What In The World/Red Sails (★)/Breaking Glass Others: Life On Mars?/Sorrow/Rebel Rebel/White Light, White Heat/Space Oddity *Note: The “★” mark indicates songs that were not heard on the official album “SERIOUS MOONLIGHT”. …And so on. Not only is it gorgeous, but the arrangements and sounds that dyed past repertoire into a danceable 80s sound are striking. Another interesting one is “Let’s Dance”. Something happened at about the 1.5 minute mark, and the band suddenly lost track of progress. It almost seemed like the ensemble was going to collapse, but they got back on their feet in less than 3 seconds. If you listen closely, there is a dangerous scene in the second half of the song, and they even restart the count in the next song, “Red Sails”. There may have been technical trouble with the monitor or something, but it’s a great scene that shows their professionalism without even noticing it.
