Description

Bowie conquered the European continent for the first time in 1976. A masterpiece live set that conveys the scene is now available. There are two performances included in this work. “April 29th + 30th 1976 Copenhagen Performance”. This is an audience set that records the first act of “ISOLAR 1976 TOUR”, which was Bowie’s first European tour. Until then, Bowie had toured major rock countries such as his native England, the United States, and Canada, and even visited Japan in 1973. However, surprisingly, they were slow to advance into continental Europe, and their first full-scale tour was in 1976. First, let’s check the show’s position from the overall picture of “ISOLAR 1976 TOUR”. [“STATION TO STATION” released on January 23rd]・February 2nd-March 26th: North America (40 performances)・April 7th-17th: Europe #1 (8 performances)・April 24th- May 18th: Europe #2 (16 performances) ←★Here★《Production of “LOW” begins in September》 This is an overview of their activities in 1976. The Copenhagen performance was the 5th/6th performance of “Europe #2″ in the final stage. This work is a 4-disc set with the full recording arranged on two discs each. This work is a truly wonderful vintage audience. Although it is not the type that can be mistaken for a sound board, it is not a recording that searches for Bowie’s presence on the other side of the noise, nor is it a recording that is bothered by explosive sounds and roars. Although the phrase “for the 70s” is necessary, the sound quality is sufficiently high and the master freshness is fresh. Moreover, this work is also the best master of both performances. At our store, we have introduced many titles supervised by world-renowned Bowie researchers, and this work is one of them. He is a master who is praised by enthusiasts as “the best of the day.” Of course, even though they are held at the same venue, the two performances have different personalities. The first day “April 29th (Disc 1-2)” has a neat sound so to speak. It is a type where the beauty of the sound stands out more than the strength of the core, and although it can’t be denied that it is a little distant, the detailed sound is very pleasant. Stability is important for this type, and it’s perfect. It’s a sound that makes you want to be immersed in Bowie’s singing voice that reaches straight to you forever. On the other hand, the second day’s “April 30th (Disc 3-4)” has a powerful core that attracts the listener. It is the type where the core is more active than on the first day, and the details are drawn clearly. The important thing with this type is the sense of separation. If it’s too powerful and all of it becomes a lump, it will lead to a roar, but this work takes a step just before that. Although it is powerful, it does not explode…It is a great recording that is happy to stop at such a moment. These two sounds depict Bowie just before he moved from the Soul era to the Berlin era. Speaking of “Europe #2”, the best soundboard album “ROTTERDAM 1976 (Wardour-186)” is the standard, but this work is about two weeks before that masterpiece. This tour has a fixed set, so it is very similar, but the point is that you can listen to “Queen Bitch”, which was also cut on that sound board. In fact, it was played at the Rotterdam performance, but this song was not recorded. You can listen to the real full show including the only masterpiece that was missing in “ROTTERDAM 1976” in two performances at once. And Bowie, who was exposed to Scandinavian fans for the first time, is also wonderful. Although it is not an explosive song, the singing voice is really free, powerful, and never stagnate. Especially on the second day (discs 3-4), the core is solid, so the voice that stretches beautifully is beautiful. Speaking of how wonderful the high-pitched singing of “Word On A Wing” is… “Panic in Detroit”, which is a highlight of this tour, is also wonderful. The sharp scats and powerful shouts are also cool, and you can listen to the highlights for about 10 minutes. Bowie toured continental Europe for the first time and sought a safe haven in Berlin. This is a 4-disc set where you can experience the passionate singing of such a charismatic singer at a turning point with realistic vintage sound. It is for experts who want to listen to each performance one by one rather than for beginners to “ISOLAR 1976 TOUR”, but that is why the different expressions are delicious even at the same venue.
