Description

Hall & Oates’ Japan tour in December 1995, which followed Darryl’s solo tour the previous year, included a super high-quality stereo soundboard recording of the Budokan performance on December 4th, the fourth day of the tour. This is the definitive album, mixed to such perfection that it could be released as an official live album. Although Darryl released his solo album “Soul Alone” in 1993, they had not released a studio album since “Change of Season” in 1990, but Hall & Oates’ popularity in Japan did not wane, and 14 performances were scheduled this year, including local performances. It was the same time that the Japan-only best-of project “THE BEST OF TIMES: GREATEST HITS” was released to coincide with their visit to Japan, and Darryl’s MC was conscious of this, as he introduced “Say It Isn’t So” as “from another greatest hits record released in the 80s, “Rock ‘n Soul.” Although there are some cuts between songs, they are edited smoothly, so you can listen to the natural flow of the concert without stress. It is mixed with a really great sound, but the audience noise from the ambient microphone is also recorded in moderation, so you can enjoy a very warm mood. The energetic excitement before So Close is a hot and fun audience reaction. The last song of the main set is You Make My Dreams, and the encore is Kiss On My List and Private Eyes. Although it is a bit compact, it is a fulfilling live album composed of all the best hits. The original is thought to be a tape mixed for broadcast, but it is the highest quality version that can be enjoyed with ultra-high quality stereo line recording that is not an exaggeration to say that it is the strongest sound in Hall & Oates history. The performance and the audience’s reaction are all recorded with the best sound, and the strongest board that is “rare to hear” is decided to be released.
