Description
A rare recording of a Brixton concert in December 1982, just after the release of their fifth album “Strawberries”, has been released! In 1981, Roman Jag joined the band on keyboards and guitar, and the Damned released their fifth album “Strawberries” in October 1982. However, during the production of the album, bassist Paul Gray left the band, and on December 30, 1982, a tumultuous time, a rare recording of a live performance in Brixton, London, has been released with a good stereo audience recording! Recorded from the low gene master, the range is wide and each part is well balanced, and the sound quality is quite good for that time. It is a shame that the three songs played after “Bad Time For Bonzo” are missing, but the rest are recorded without any missing parts, including the interruption scene due to equipment trouble immediately after “Bad Time For Bonzo”. The set list included four songs from “Strawberries” including the opening number “Ignite”, “Disco Man” from the EP “FRIDAY 13TH” released in November 1981, and “Happy Talk”, a solo single released by Captain in July of the same year that became a hit that stayed at the top of the avant-garde charts for two weeks. From the ending of “Looking At You”, Rat’s drum solo is sandwiched between them, and they launch into “New Rose”, making this a superb live performance with plenty to listen to!
