Description

Cozy Powell formed the phantom band “Cozy Powell’s Hammer” in 1974, mainly consisting of members of the Jeff Beck Group, after leaving the second Jeff Beck Group. It never became a thing and disappeared in just under two years. Although the album was never released, it was recorded, and this title includes a compilation of the best takes from the soundboard master leaked by the people involved from the album recording session. First of all, the members are Clive Charman from the second Jeff Beck Group, Bernie Marsden, who participated in Cozy’s single “Na Na Na”, Frank Aiello, the vocalist of Bedlam, and someone who has just started his professional career. Don Airey and other great British rock players gathered together based on Cozy’s connections. This sound source is a direct CD version of the reel master that is said to have been owned by Cozy, and the recording time is 41 minutes, with a total of 9 tracks. Three of the tracks include three versions of Cozy’s fourth single, “Le Souk,” and the sixth song, “Living A Lie,” was later re-recorded on his second solo, “Tilt.” Click here. is another original take. All other tracks are unreleased numbers, and the quality is from a perfect stereo sound board that can be officially released as is. There are also some great unreleased numbers, and the first instrumental track, “Take Your Time,” has a funky backing that is sure to please. The following number is also a fast-paced instrumental, and although it seems that it is actually intended to be a song, it is funky and features Don’s keyboard and Bernie’s long solo, and the second half is cozy. The amazing drumming is like listening to Colosseum II. Furthermore, “Take Your Time”, which features Frank’s soulful vocals, is a different take from the first song, and Bernie’s flowing solo in the second half is exquisite. “Bad Kid” also features Frank’s vocals and Don’s loud piano. And the famous ballad “Living A Lie” was re-recorded on “Tilt” with Frank and Bernie Tanaka, and this one has a different arrangement and is recorded 2 minutes longer at 7 minutes and 30 seconds. Furthermore, Cozy’s phantom single “Le Souk”, produced by Mickey Most, was recorded in three takes: the final version, a 3-minute single edit version, and an outtake, all with different arrangements and mixes. The only official recordings left under the group’s name are two singles, which include four additional A&B songs as bonus tracks. After this, in 1992, they were active as a group with the same name as Tony Martin, who was the vocalist of B.Sabbath, and this is a must-listen item for Cozy fans, which can be said to be the origin. 01.
