Description

COVERDALE/PAGE is a legendary project formed by two legends. The precious footage will be released. We have previously introduced the representative video “OSAKA 1993 1ST NIGHT”, as well as the final day video “NAGOYA 1993 THE VIDEO” and “BUDOKAN 1993 1ST NIGHT THE VIDEO”, but of course this work is a different work. This is an audience shot of “December 17th + 18th, 1993: Yoyogi Olympic Pool Performance”. First of all, let’s organize the collection by date, including the previous works.・December 14th: Nippon Budokan “BUDOKAN 1993 1ST NIGHT”・December 15th: Nippon Budokan・December 17th: National Yoyogi Stadium [Disc 1]・December 18th: National Yoyogi Stadium [Disc 2]・December 20th: Osakajo Hall “OSAKA 1993 1ST NIGHT”・December 21st: Osakajo Hall・December 22nd: Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium “NAGOYA 1993 THE VIDEO”A total of seven performances. This work is a two-disc set with two days at the National Yoyogi Stadium on one disc each. The venues are different from previous video works, and with this work you can enjoy the scenery of all four venues. Now, let’s introduce each video. [Disc 1: December 17th (first day at Yoyogi)] Since the recordings are in the order of the dates, we start with “December 17th”. However, this footage is actually a bit tough. The previous works were completely recorded, but this footage is incomplete. The shooting was finished only with the main set, and there is no encore after “Still Of The Night”. Another drawback is that it is a little difficult to see. The angle captured from the front seats of the arena includes the shadows of the front row, and it is difficult to stabilize due to the enthusiasm of the front row. It is a shot of looking at the stage from the gap of the head. In addition, there is a master disturbance in the opening “Absolution Blues”, and the screen sometimes disappears halfway through… I’m not sure whether I’m recommending it or not, but it’s not a completely bad video. In fact, this video has a strong advantage that no other has. That is, the huge Coverdale and Paige! The two heroes who appear from the shadow of the front row are so close to each other that their upper bodies fill the screen. You can even see their expressions. Thanks to the angle, the two of them stand close to each other, and the image moves like a pin-up. Moreover, the image is clear. I wrote earlier that there is a disturbance in the master, but that is only for “Absolution Blues”. From the second song “Slide It In”, the image becomes beautiful. What you notice there is that the master is actually fresh. Anyway, the color is beautiful and the details are clear. Each steel frame of the stage set seems to shine, and each member is as beautiful as a modern TV broadcast. To be honest, the total average score does not exceed the previous video works, but the highest quality of the moment is by far the No. 1. Moreover, it is a video that you can enjoy such beautiful moments throughout the entire song. [Disc 2: December 18th (Yoyogi 2nd day)] The second day that appears next is a full video with a completely opposite personality. At the beginning, you will be worried because you are facing the wrong direction, but when the performance starts, you will realize that it is actually a superb view seat. The position is from the left diagonal, looking at the stage, not the arena, but the stand seats. That said, it is not looking down, but is shot at the same eye level as the members. And the best thing about it is the field of view. Only the stand seats can barely fit the heads and arms of the front row, and only the stage jumps into the field of view. Although it is not as close as Disc 1, it is still close enough that it feels like a club size rather than the huge Yoyogi Olympic Pool. And the camera work is also good. The beginning “Absolution Blues” shows the photographer’s hesitation in facing an unknown stage, but after that it becomes much more stable. Coverdale and Page’s standing positions are firmly captured in the center, and the two of them are shown in plenty of brave figures. Although it does not reach the miraculous level of Osaka footage, this footage is really wonderful. The view and camera work are comparable to those of Nagoya on the final day, and the image quality and master freshness are even better. It is a video work that allows you to fully enjoy the full show of about two hours. Nippon Budokan, Osaka Castle, Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium, and Yoyogi Olympic Pool. This means you can now witness all four venues where the legendary project held its shows. The first day is a heart-warming, almost ferocious spectacle, and the second day is a total treat. Not just a collection, but a two-disc set that also offers plenty of individuality.
