Chris studied under John Scofield, with whom he had worked before joining Pat Metheny’s Unity Band, and performed with Norah Jones, MONDAY Michiru, and the Brecker Brothers. Adam Rogers, the most important guitarist on the scene who also participated in Snarky Puppy’s Michael League’s project “FORQ” and Chris Potter Underground’s “Imaginary Cities,” and the piano solo revolution that began with Keith Jarrett, are back on ECM! Craig Taborn is a drummer, composer and producer born December 14, 1974 in Chesapeake, Virginia. His real name is Ira Nathaniel Smith. After studying piano, he started playing drums at the age of 11. He was invited to study at James Madison University and Virginia Commonwealth University, where he performed with jazz bassist Dave Holland. In 2004, he joined Chris Potter’s group and recorded three albums. Since then, he has been active in a variety of genres, including jazz, hip-hop, and club music. In 2017, he released the project album “Kinfolk: Postcards from Everywhere”. The Potter Quartet, led by Nate Smith, who also plays with Jose James and Adam Rogers, formed the strongest group in recent years, “Dice,” a group that became a hot topic in 2017. The legendary “Underground” performed on December 2, 2008 at the A38 ship in Budapest, Hungary, and is the latest contemporary jazz masterpiece.
