Description

Chick, who has been playing Powell and Powell-themed songs since the 1970s, has performed his life’s work, a great legacy of American music, and hopes to reacquaint people with Bud Powell’s music. The best live show by the assembled project is here for the first time! ! The masters Chick and Roy Haynes, and the new and old all-stars Wallace Rooney, Kenny Garrett, and Christian McBride, all of whom were rising stars in the scene at the time, worked together to create a new version of Powell’s music. It was acclaimed all over the world as a masterpiece with a lot of breath put into it. Because all the members were popular, the tour that was held with the same lineup as the recording members was a valuable experience. From such a rare concert to a live performance at New York’s prestigious Blue Note Club on April 2, 1997, it was so high that you could mistake it for a sound board, with a realistic sense of presence that made you feel like you were listening to it from the front row of the audience seats. A 2-disc set of 2 and a half hours of complete recording in stereo sound has arrived! ! The concert features a lot of futuristic solos by each member, and each song is played in a long format, allowing you to fully enjoy the best performance of modern jazz, which has evolved and is hundreds of times more enjoyable to listen to than the studio version. I’m also happy to hear that the set list includes songs such as “Un Poco Loco”, which was not included on the studio version, and Chic’s “Matrix”. Particularly in the middle of Powell’s masterpiece “Tempus Fugit,” which he recorded as a trio on Verve in 1949, the thrilling performance of everyone, led by Chick’s brilliant play, is sure to give you goosebumps. . Also, at the end of the song, Chick’s fantastic play of the original “Bud Powell”, in which he fully demonstrates his love for Powell, reveals his long-held feelings for the song, and is sure to bring tears to your eyes. Throughout the entire film, Tick performs not just out of curiosity, but from the depths of his heart, sympathizing with Powell’s music. Here is a beautiful performance that moves the hearts of the listeners!
