Description

The first time the venue was moved from the Denen Coliseum to Yomiuri Land East after one cancellation, the lineup was even more luxurious than usual at Live Under the Sky 1983, where Chick Corea’s strongest piano trio performance in his career and his special performance in 1981 were both recorded with another dimension of high sound quality from the finest PCM digital recording masters. This definitive monster item is here! Starting with his first participation in the Chick Corea group with Al Di Meola, Bunny Brunel, and Tony Williams in 1979, he always prepared a surprising special menu to entertain us, such as a duo with Herbie and a collaboration with Paco de Lucia. Among the many live performances at Live Under the Sky, the legendary stage at Yomiuri Land East on July 31, 1983, where Chick put aside his unique entertainment side and performed a serious performance that was more poignant than ever, was the trio music with Miroslav Vitous and Roy Haynes. This work includes the famous performance of that day and the special performance of Chick Corea with solo, duo, quintet and special members at the International Jazz Festival held at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco on October 30, 1981. Both performances are recorded directly from the original PCM digital recording master, which is not available to the public, and the fine details of each member’s playing can be clearly and distinctly heard. This is a two-disc set of the ultimate high-quality stereo soundboard recording, which is a different dimension of astonishment and has never been released before. This is a must-have item for anyone interested in audio! The 1983 Live Under the Sky performance took place right after the release of “Trio Music.” The Thelonious Monk Medley, which was performed by Chick’s piano trio even in the studio, and was even better than the acoustic version, is performed in a live version with plenty of improvisation by each master, making it an incredible performance that allows you to experience the true essence of trio music! You can also enjoy the blissful piano trio performance throughout, including Vitous’ originals! Incidentally, a live album by this trio was also released by ECM, but it was recorded in 1986 and the songs included are completely different. The 1981 International Jazz Festival performance was a special concert featuring Chick with various guests. It began with an acoustic piano solo of over 10 minutes, using one of Chick’s signature songs, “A Child’s Song,” as the base, and generously packed with all of Chick’s elements. Then, a 15-minute duet performance of “La Fiesta” with Gary Burton was performed, and the performance ended with a long and passionate performance of “So in Love” by a super quartet consisting of Joe Henderson, who was connected to Chick through “Mirror Mirror” – the song that helped bring the great tenor Joe Henderson back to prominence – and Vitous and Haynes from Trio Music. Joe Hen’s original blow sings, Chick’s improvisation in 4 beats is brilliant, Vitous and Haynes’s talkative playing transcends the rhythm, and all the members swing very comfortably, this is the true form of jazz! Chick became interested in 4 beat jazz and returned to being a pianist as a jazzman. These two masterpieces, which allow you to enjoy playing in his heyday, playing to the fullest with a clear and beautiful tone, are recorded directly from the original unearthed PCM digital recording master, which has never been released to the public, and are perfectly captured on the most gorgeous, amazing, and ultimate high-quality stereo soundboard! ! !
