Description
This is a recording of the August 21st performance in Kalamazoo, Michigan, from the 1976 US tour when Terry Kath was still a member of the band and “Chicago X: Caribbean Whirlwind” was released, recorded on soundboard from the FM on-air master at the time. Because it is a broadcast recording, the last part fades out, but it is almost a complete recording, and since there have been no full soundboard live performances from this period, it is a valuable live recording. In addition to “If You Leave Me Now,” which was the first US chart No. 1 in the 1970s, “New York on a Rainy Day,” “You’re Sexy,” and “With You Again” from the same album are rare because they are set numbers unique to this period. After the hit of “If You Leave Me Now,” the band gradually shifted to a pop ballad route, but the jazz-rock approach can still be seen everywhere, and it is a must-listen for fans as a record of Chicago’s last glorious heyday.
