Description
This is a must-listen, must-have item for fans, recorded from an unearthed broadcast recording of a live performance that was said to be a phantom, performed by a quartet with special members at the traditional Victoria Theatre in Vancouver, Canada on January 30, 1987. The members were different from the album “Quartet West” released in 1986, the year before the live performance, and the quartet was surprised by fans, with Branford Marsalis on soprano sax and tenor, Kenny Kirkland on piano, and Billy Higgins on drums. 1987 is known as the year when Hayden was most active, and her live performance with Quartet West and her tour with the Liberation Music Orchestra were highly praised all over Europe. In addition, the album “Etude” with Geri Allen and Paul Motian and “Silence” with Chet Baker were released, and this was the year that Hayden was greatly focused in both name and reality. Branford Marsalis, who was selected as the saxophonist for this live performance, was also selected for the Liberation Music Orchestra’s album “Dream Keeper” four years later. The live performance at the Victoria Theatre that was released was recorded from a cassette tape that was recorded on a radio broadcast in Canada, and although it has some aging, you can enjoy a very rich stage with Kenny Kirkland’s piano and Branford’s tenor solo.
