Charles Mingus Quintet Charles Mingus/France 1976

From the 1976 European tour of the Charles Mingus Quintet, the live performance at the Theatre Ollioules in France on August 17th, the first appearance following the performance in Helsinki on August 23rd, was recorded with the finest stereo soundboard sound source broadcast locally in recent years. Two superb items from the European tour, the Helsinki performance and the Theatre Ollioules, are now available. A spectacular performance by the same members (Jack Wallace, Ricky Ford, Danny Mixon, Danny Richmond) as the Japan tour in July. A total of six songs including “For Harry Carney”, “Fables Of Nixon, Rockefeller And Ford”, “Remember Rockefeller At Attica”, and “Sue’s Changes”. You can enjoy the wonderful performance in the later years, which had a great influence on rock beyond jazz, but can be said to be in the heyday, with the finest sound.
