Description

The live performance at the Oddfellow Palace in Copenhagen on April 14th from the 1964 European tour, which was the last collaboration between Charles Mingus and Eric Dolphy, can be heard for the first time in the finest quality, with pitch correction and noise cleaning by an overseas remaster craftsman (Goody) who newly excavated each of them from the open reel master, “Complete Stuttgart 1964” and “Amsterdam 1964”. For those who own the previous work, your dissatisfaction will be resolved. The first track is performed without pianist Jackie Bird. As Mingus also said, the reason was that before the live performance, he was arrested for shoplifting at a nearby store. In other words, he was still in police custody for the first track. He arrived shortly thereafter and joined from the second track. However, Dolphy’s intense playing at this time is truly goosebump-inducing, especially with the good sound. This is a miraculous new masterpiece released at the turning point of 60 years of live performances.
