Description

This is a high-quality disc containing rebroadcasts from recent years, when Cecil Taylor was considered to be at his most powerful. There are several sound sources of this quartet from 1969 other than the official version “The Great Concert Of Cecil Taylor”, but this one has relatively good sound quality (although the piano sound is a little off) but…). And the content is also great. This shows how complete the CT unit was during this period. The fact that the performance time is one hour is also easy to listen to. The saxophone interaction between Jimmy Lyons and Sam Rivers is very nice. The song structure is so solid that I can’t help but wonder if this band had recorded it in a studio. It’s kind of funny to see Sam Rivers shouting things like “ahh” and “wow” in between playing the flute (lol). The energetic saxophone of Jimmy Lyons and Sam Rivers and the overwhelming piano of Cecil Taylor form a unique music. Live at Philharmonie, Berlin, Germany 11/06/1969 1.Announcement(1:17) 2.Fragment Of A Dedication To Duke Ellington(63:30) Jimmy Lyons(as) Sam Rivers(ts) Cecil Taylor (p) Andrew Cyril (dr)
