Description

In 1982, the “Rock Super Sessions VOL.1” performance by Carmine Appice, Eric Carmen, Tom Peterson, Rick Derringer, and Duane Hitchings was held five times in Japan only (Tokyo, Nagoya, two performances in Osaka, and Fukuoka), but this album is a complete recording of the first day, March 4th, at the Budokan, over 1 hour and 42 minutes with a high-quality audience recording of the highest level. Except for Paint It Black, which was played as an instrumental in the middle rather than a session jam (with a drum solo in the second half), each musician sang a few songs of their own, and you can enjoy the selection of songs and original set unique to this tour with a wonderful sound. This album uses the original master cassette, which is not available even among traders, directly, and captures the entire show with a clear and realistic high sound quality that is unusual for a Budokan performance at that time. The live performance on this day was broadcast on FM radio three months after the performance, but this is the complete version, including Cheap Trick’s Ain’t That A Shame and Carmine Appice’s Hollywood Heartbeat, which were not broadcast, even though it was recorded by the audience. Even now, the performance is surprisingly solid for a hastily assembled band, and every song is powerful and well worth listening to. As mentioned above, the performance is diverse, but the flow of the performance is not interrupted, and you can fully enjoy the showmanship-filled performance of each member. The overall sound image is very stable, and since the master tape was used, the sound is very fresh, so it will be a very pleasing album for maniacs and hardcore collectors in the sense that you can enjoy other than the FM take of this day. It can be said that this planned live performance was realized only at this time, when Western music was at its peak, but it can be said that it is a real document of the day and is irresistible for those who love Western music at that time. It is an excellent album in terms of sound quality and content. Since this was a promotional tour for the album “Be My Baby,” the concert consisted of six songs from the album, three solo songs by each member, and a rock and roll medley encore. The performance was good and there were many different songs to listen to, so even fans of certain members could enjoy this concert.
