Description

Carl Palmer is the last survivor who continues to carry on the legacy of EL&P. An original recording that conveys his “now” is now available. What is recorded in this work is “January 28, 2019 Milton Keynes performance”. This is the best audience recording. Speaking of CARL PALMER’S ELP LEGACY, the official work “LIVE” was also released last year, but the shows recorded in that live album are somewhat old in 2014 and 2016. Also, one year has passed since our last report on “CRUISE TO THE EDGE 2018”, so let’s first take a look at Carl’s recent progress since then. ●2018, February 2-7: CRUISE TO THE EDGE (4 performances), March 9-April 28: North America #1 (11 performances), May 24-June 3: South America (7 performances)《“LIVE” released on June 29》・June 29 + July 2: North America #2 (2 performances)・August 2-20: Europe #1 (4 performances)・10 Monday 6th – November 4th: North America #3 (14 performances) ●January 26th – March 1st, 2019: Europe #2 (27 performances) ←★Here★ This is a summary of our activities in 2018/2019 . Karl has been running ASIA and ELP LEGACY in parallel, but ASIA stopped its activities in July 2017. Currently, I have narrowed it down to just one ELP LEGACY. Last year, I toured North America on a small schedule, but I almost never visited Europe. Perhaps because of this, in 2019 we are going on a full-fledged European tour for the first time in a while. The Milton Keynes performance of this work was the first three performances of such “Europe #2”. This work, which was recorded at the start of 2019, is a truly wonderful and exquisite audience recording. The person who recorded it was a legendary master who lives in London, and is known at our store as the “British Master.” He is a recording artist who has been reporting on live performances near London with the best sound for many years, and the venue for this work, “Stables Theater”, can be called his garden. Until now, we have produced masterpieces by various bands such as JCM, SOFT MACHINE, KT TUNSTALL, WISHBONE ASH, URIAH HEEP, etc. That’s why he knows everything about the sweet spot, and this work is full of its greatness. The strong core is right in front of you, and the atmosphere is crystal clear. The feeling of being in a closed room in a small club space with about 400 people is wonderful, and it is a hyper-realistic sound that does not matter whether it is a line or a guest record, rather than “just like a sound board”. What is depicted with such quality is the latest ELP LEGACY that incorporates new ideas. Last year’s “CRUISE TO THE EDGE 2018″ was a short set because it was an onboard event, but this work is a magnificent full set. There will be plenty of performances, including “Peter Gunn”, “Fugue in D minor” for the first time in four years, “21st Century Schizoid Man”, and Paul Bielatawicz’s solo “Claire de Lune”. In particular, “Tank” and “Lucky Man” are numbers that cannot be heard even on the official version “LIVE” released the other day. And even more important than that is the “From The Beginning” medley in the middle. Guided by Carl’s call, Simon Fitzpatrick starts playing with a 10-string stick, and the tone is sometimes like an acoustic guitar, sometimes electric, and sometimes like a synth. A number of phrases are intricately intertwined, with a variety of tones that make it hard to believe that the song is alone. And then, that virtuosity goes straight to “Maple Leaf Rag.” Karl also participates here, and we can clearly hear his virtuosity, which is not an easy task. ELP LEGACY tends to be dismissed as a “guitar trio version of EL&P,” but it’s clear that Simon’s sticks give it a wide range of tones and melodies that you wouldn’t think were made by three people. This medley was started in the middle of last year, and is a big highlight for Simon. Even so, it’s wonderful. CARL PALMER’S ELP LEGACY is more than just a cover band. Although the members have been solidified for a long time, the ensemble is still evolving. A masterpiece of a live album that allows you to listen carefully to the latest full show with the finest sound that beautifully separates it.
